Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.
Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.
U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.
"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's really unfortunate with any death. And now, politically, in the presidential cycle we're in my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

At this point, I just want them to obstruct under any circumstances. If America can elect a conservative then I’m sure he’ll confirm like he did for flaming LIBS. He only cares about being “qualified” and doesn’t give a damn about ideology.

Look for Cruz to say tonight the replacement should be stalled (which it should) until he becomes president because he’s the only one who can find a conservative who’s as smart as he is to serve on the court. So it’s imperative for everyone else to drop so Cruz can be the one to appoint Scalia’s replacement.

It’s nice that McConnell said this about not filling the vacancy until the next President is elected. The problem is....is this for real, or just a bunch of hoo-hah?

I was unclear. I was referring to the discussion.
In a perfect world we could wait to have this discussion. Secure in the knowledge that our President would fulfill his Constitutional duty.
However we are in the real world. Our President is committed to expanding government and twisting the Constitution into a pretzel. So we have to have this conversation now, before Justice Scalia is even laid to rest.
It is sad, but a symptom of our times.

Indeed. Orrin Hatch, not the most conservative Senator, just said on Fox that the loss and decision on replacement may be the most momentous in court history.
Orrin Hatch has just piled on with McConnell. Expect other Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee to make the same statement by tomorrow.
