[I]n a campaign that has seemingly tested every political rule, Mr. Trumpâs opponents hope his latest provocation will be too much for well-mannered voters in this heavily evangelical Christian state to bear: his use of a pungently vulgar word this week to describe one of his rivals, Senator Ted Cruz.
Mr. Trumpâs raunchy language has become unsurprising at his rallies. And the slur against Mr. Cruz was largely overshadowed by the coverage of the next dayâs New Hampshire primary.
But in voicing the crude term, Mr. Trump has further polarized a Republican Party already deeply divided about his candidacy, particularly across class lines.
His backers, who polls indicate include many without a college degree, see his willingness to speak coarsely as yet another refreshing example of his resistance to political correctness.
His critics, many of them more affluent, view his language as a particularly vivid sign that he lacks basic decency and is ill suited to the nationâs highest office.
The differing reactions are already playing out on the campaign trail.
Rebecca Sardella, who attended a rally for Senator Marco Rubio this week in Myrtle Beach, said she was offended by Mr. Trumpâs language.
âThe way he speaks â that doesnât sound like somebody who really believes in God that much,â said Ms. Sardella, who works for a nondenominational church in North Myrtle Beach. âYou want your children to look up at the president of the United States.â
But at a rally Thursday in an arena in Baton Rouge, La., Mr. Trumpâs supporters treated his profane remark about Mr. Cruz like the hit song of a touring rock band, pleading with him to let it rip again.
âTheyâre all saying, âDo it! Do it!â â he told a clamorous crowd of nearly 10,000, acknowledging their chants.

NY Slimes. Enough already. Tedious
.
Surprising attack of morals from people who likely support baby murder, vile rap artists and bath in all the sewage spewed from the cultural sewer.
Amazing.
Really really big- I mean bigger than you can imagine. I'm talking "So Big." It'll be so great.
Who’s your candidate? Some POS Republican who’ll do nothing but advance the failed status quo.
Not likely that anyone other than a lefty Democrat bothers with the New York Times. That being said, there is something hilliarious (sic) about the grey lady sniffing at Trump’s use of street language.
I don’t recall a similar sniff when Prof. Cornell West called Obama “the first niggarized president.”
You are extremely naive if you believe Trump will have any more success other than working well with the other side
his use of a pungently vulgar word this week to describe one of his rivals, Senator Ted Cruz.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Buahahahahahahaha!
You think that Trumpâs language was bad? Check out Teddy Rooseveltâs, also a disingenuous boor. But then you think that our president must be washed in the blood of the lamb? Note that there is no such constitutional requirement, thank God for that, or we would have kings by divine right instead of imperfectly human presidents.
May the Trumpinator remain victorious!
heheheheh ... she said “pungent.”
Trump should not have repeated the slur, but Cruz supporters don’t have to be such p*ss*** about it.
So what was the slur?
Voted to Cut the Military
Voted for B-1 Visas

Oh yes, that is what we need - another Teddy Roosevelt in office. He was one of the first progressives. Read his history. He was not Conservative.
That said, tell me the wonderful things (other than becoming rich) that Trump has done to help the military, stop illegal immigration, get the Fed audited or advance any other Conservative cause.
He did get Bill and Hill to go to his wedding.
You really said that? Coming from the very guy who whines incessantly at any point someone hurts his teeny weeny fweewings puhhhlease.
Hey if I don’t like what you say I’ll sue you
