Heidi Cruz said Wednesday that her husband, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), was showing America "the face of the God that we serve" through his faith-based Republican presidential campaign.
There was something creepy about the way Heidi said that. Face of God????
Well, the world thinks God is weird and wants Him to butt out.
God isn’t on one candidates side over another. That is what she seemed to be implying. I think God watches over all of them. I hope He does. Cruz, Trump, even li’l Jebby.
Ultimately He will smile on the one who does His will as best he or she understands it.
One could make a fair case this might actually be Donald, though this situation could change with epiphanies on the part of others and fumbles on the part of Donald. It’s a fluid situation by definition.
It’s also historically and biblically correct.
The idea of a Christian faith that has taken leave of the Jewish legacy of how it came to be, is an oxymoron.
We are supposed to assume “Zionism” to be an utterly wrong, utterly unbiblical notion? That would surprise many of the biblical authors, including Paul.
I strive (and many times fail) to show the face of God to everyone I meet (and I fear God plenty)
You judge the Cruz family then throw out the glass house line?
Shudder for yourself.
You failed to define what you mean by Zionism. I know biblical Zionism as the rebirth of the nation of Israel under the leadership of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ as is prophesied by Moses, the Prophets & the Psalms. No where in all biblical prophecy is it written that the nation is restored before the return of Christ. Shalom
Heidi Cruz never claimed that Ted is the face of God. Look at her actual words again.
The quote may be accurate, but the headline is deception. She never said that Ted is the face of God.
They are not equating their Christian walk with the face of God.
They are saying that the campaign gives them the opportunity to show people what God is about - stuff like life, liberty, choice, responsibility, etc. There are pseople who have never even considered a worldview where those things were valued.
It is YOU who are making this all about Ted and not about God, which is the OPPOSITE of what Heidi Cruz was saying. And IIRC this was all pointed out in the other thread - the only thread there is supposed to be on this, according to FR rules - and yet you’re still saying the same things as if you didn’t know better.
No apologies please!
I reread my post and it was ambiguous. I have to write so much that I tend to cut casual statements too short. I feel the same way you do about Heidi’s comments, although one must consider the stressed and fractured source.
We’re good though. No offense taken and I apologize for being imprecise.
They never said that HE was the face of God. Look at the quote again.
And this thread should be closed, since it’s a duplicate. On the legitimate thread there is conversation that’s not just piling on. Don’t have time to post everything all over again just because there’s a duplicate thread.
“While we are on this side, we are too impure to see the face of God. His radiance would fry us.”
Yep. And someone Biblically literate would know that.
Cyrus.
So, having set yourself up by poblicly judging Cruz for his tything record, are your tythes better? (Retorical question btw)
Note, I personally do not report tythes to the IRS, it is none of their business. Let us hope for your sake Ted Cruz is not of the same conviction.

I am not a Cruz supporter, he is a phoney, but this bit about his tithing or not tithing is typical mammon serving christianity. The Tithe Teaching is a lie! Tithing ended with the Levite Priesthood and Christians are instructed to give not tithe. The Hebrew people under the Mosaic Law were instructed to tithe, 10% of yearling livestock and crops, they could not tithe money... IT IS IN THE BIBLE IF PEOPLE WOULD JUST READ IT !! Deuteronomy 14:22-29
These leaders who have little to no faith depend on the tithe for their pay checks, and comfortable living. They preach, “DON’T ROB GOD!” but it is them robbing God to pay themselves because they don’t have the faith to live by faith. Mammon is in the church!
Let each one determine in his own heart what to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
If you want to give 10% to your church, or Pastor, or a ministry, or missionary, go ahead but don’t live under a law that no longer exists in the kingdom of God. Give 10%...give 20%...give 50%...give 90% whatever you determine in your heart.
“Judeo-Christian is an oxymoron as Judeo rejected Christ and they do to this day.”
Jesus was a Jew his entire life.
