Trump then said, âI respect what Ted just said, but if you noticed, he didnât answer your question, and thatâs whatâs going to happen â itâs okay. Thatâs whatâs going to happen with our enemies, and the people we compete against. Weâre going to win with Trump. Weâre going to win. We donât win anymore. Our country doesnât win anymore. Weâre going to win with Trump. And people back down with Trump, and thatâs what I like, and thatâs what the country is going to like.â

“If Cruz can’t stand up to Trump how does he go toe to toe with Putin?”
And since Trump admires Putin, he won’t NEED to go toe-to-toe. They will be arm-in-arm!
But really...the idea that Cruz is afraid of Trump is a Trumpian fantasy. Like most of the things Trump says...
LoL at Cruz.
I also like how Trump ended the debate like a Joust, unmounting Cruz from his Horse, with “you won with Dr. Carson’s votes”?
Cruz is a tricky wiseguy, who will do anything to win. Ask Doc. Carson
She has mean eyes.
Reminds me of the Clair Underwood character on House of Cards
Did some soul searching. Only two weeks ago Trump started his pro life thesis by saying he supports abortion in cases of rape and incest.
it is not a strawman argument as approximately 14000 babies die from this each year.
When I die, God is not gonna tell me how great America did after Trump took office and pat me on the back.
He is going to ask me why I thought America’s prosperity was more important than those 14,000 lives and why it was so easy to trade my principles for earthly glory.
For that reason, I must vote the Constitution Party if they are pro life and on the ballot, if Trump gets the nod.
We aren’t here forever folks.
It is always wise to disengage foolishness. Trump can trumpet himself all he wants. His implosion will be of his own making when everyone tires of his flip-flopping, braggart ways. When a building is imploding, you stand back.
Cruz was not going to let the moderators turn the debate into another round of the candidates attacking each other and fighting among themselves.
Cruz decided to take the high road and stick to discussing the issues, and leave the pettiness to the others.
I was kind of amused by the exchange while watching the debate. It did look like Ted was backing down and trying not to stir Trump up. I have been saying that the two should call a truce. Given the tone of his supporters here I was a little surprised that Ted is the one extending the olive branch, but it looks like his advisers realize that they pushed things a little too far to win Iowa and now they are looking for forgiveness. Ted needs to shake off the slimy stuff as quickly as possible or it will damage his credibility. I think Trump should try and refrain from referring to himself repeatedly in the third person. It just sounds a little strange.
He tried.
Cruz lacked the cajones to say it to Trump's face.
You liked that? Wait until the other candidate can’t reply and throw a jab like that?
You must really enjoy boxing matches where one of the fighters keeps hitting after the bell rings.
That was cheap and sleazy.
I thought Ted did a good job of showing that Trump is nothing but a verbal arsonist who is willing to burn down anything in his path if he believe it benefits Donald Trump.
Trump could care less about conservatives, or conservative principles. If we are so stupid as to send him to the general he will turn on us faster than you can say Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Dunno about that but she sure lost a major part of her hotness factor with the new “do”.
In the first part of the debate Cruz got a whole lot more time than anyone else. It was a strategy - I didn't care for it but it was obvious and it was pretty effective.
In 2002 the Republican Party had the White House, a majority in the Senate, a majority in the House, and a majority on the Supreme Court. In 2002 the Republican Party did absolutely nothing about abortion. In 2002 the Republican Party acted embarrassed to even discuss the subject of abortion. The moral of the story is - the Republican Party will not change abortion law. It doesn’t matter who wins the Republican Presidential popularity contest because the Republican Party will not change abortion law.
