Windham, New Hampshire (CNN)The day after winning the Iowa caucuses, Ted Cruz issued an apology to Republican rival Ben Carson for falsely telling Iowa caucusgoers that the retired neurosurgeon planned to quit the race, calling it a "mistake."
Cruz said in a statement Tuesday that his campaign staff saw a CNN report that Carson was dropping out, although CNN had not characterized Carson's actions that way.
"Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying that Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story," Cruz said in a statement first shared with CNN. "That's fair game. What the team then should have done was send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out."

This reeks of Bill and Hillary’s “bureaucratic snafu, sorry” nonsense.
SOS,SOS, SOS!
Same Old S—t!
Same Old Senator!
Same Old Speeches
Just what this country needs, eight more years of a Rookie Senator, like the currant one. Does 2-3 years as a Senator give one the genius to be POTUS?
And you know the dimocrats are going to challenge it if he becomes the nominee.
I hadn’t heard that, Thanks for that info.
I can’t see Rubio doing that in the other states though. I mean I’m thinking Cruz loses in New Hampshire, but I can’t see Rubio beating him in any of the Southern states or the “flyover states” (except Colorado and Illinois).
And Cruz has a strategy. He’s focusing on getting delegates in areas like Guam. They don’t vote in the election, but they send delegates to the convention.
Everything you post here is available to sway voters.
Lol, what a pathetically weak argument you make in trying to excuse the knee knee jerk and irresponsible behavior of a presidential campaign organization. They saw a chance to sway some votes and that's all they considered, like some drunk college boys trying to pick up girls in a bar.
NH will be looking for a more “establishment” candidate. Making this caucus all about Rubio’s “surprising rise” gives him momentum going into NH. This is what the GOPe dreams about.
And here it is, via CNN’s lies, and Freepers swallowing it up even when CNN’s very report saying Cruz apologized deceptively leaves out that it was CNN’s report that was false, and when their claims of what their reports said are documentably false. CNN is counting on people just hearing the anti-Cruz tripe that they want to hear, and not having the diligence to check out the facts.
And FR has lived down to CNN’s expectations. sigh.
I used to like Cruz a lot.
Originally, he was my first pick for GOP presidential candidate.
Seldom has a candidate proven to be such a disappointment to me.
Blah, blah, blah. Still, people are to believe that the smartest lawyer who ever lived had no curiosity about the conditions of his Canadian birth, beyond what his mother told him, until he was in his 40s?
Believe that if you want to believe it.
TRUMP SUPPORTERS THINK MICROSOFT HELPED RUBIO CHEAT IN IOWA
"Polling indicated Rubio would be a distant third, trailing by perhaps double digits in the socially conservative state -- an afterthought behind the two candidates expected to duke it out for first: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Donald Trump," reported the Washington Post.
However, soon after Rubio captured 23 per cent of the vote, just one per cent behind Trump, the hashtag #MicrosoftRubioFraud began trending on Twitter, with some Trump supporters adamant that Microsoft, who helped tally the votes via their own app, had been involved in foul play.
Noting that Microsoft is Rubio's number two campaign contributor, one meme asked the question, "Nice of them to count the votes, wasn't it?"
I don’t mean issues ABOUT Cruz,
I mean issues Trump raised and talked about
long before the other candidates talked about.
Those issues will not just disappear or go away
just because Trump may or may not go away.
The votes that were swayed went to Rubio. The preferred candidate of the GOPe and media companies like Fox and CNN, whose people started saying, about the same time as the CNN report came out, that they would do better than expected - even though Carson’s votes would more reasonably be expected to go to Cruz.
But never mind. It’s obvious that you’re more interested in drunk college boy stuff than in seeing what’s in front of our faces.
We may be making the same point from different angles. I agree with what you posted.
Did Cruz do immigration law? Constitutional law is a whole different bird.
But like I said before, never mind. Forget I ever talked to you. You’re gonna believe whatever you want, just like CNN and the GOPe are banking on.
I know almost no one believes me but Cruz is the stealth establishment candidate. All of his big money is very establishment and much of it the antithesis of what he supposedly stands for.
His donors are open borders, American Union, New World Order and/or gay. He and they know he is not remotely eligible to serve as President but will do their best to elect him, thus legitimizing Obama.
His platforms are whatever is selling best, he lies about himself and other candidates, he has hired some of the sleaziest people imaginable.
No, I do not like him at all but I never have. I look at him and see a Cuban/Canadian Obama.
When Dems win via lying, there is a fundamental symmetry to it. It’s who they are and what they believe.
When the GOPe defeated McDaniel in Mississippi via shameful, disgusting lies, it was infuriating. We needed someone to stand up to D.C. and call them out in real time. There was no one.
When a candidate who runs as a Christian conservative wins via lying...it’s just depressing.
You caught on quicker than I did.
Didn’t I read earlier today that Jeb’s big-bucks supporters are switching to Cruz?
And there’s another one. Thx
Yes it is.
