Windham, New Hampshire (CNN)The day after winning the Iowa caucuses, Ted Cruz issued an apology to Republican rival Ben Carson for falsely telling Iowa caucusgoers that the retired neurosurgeon planned to quit the race, calling it a "mistake."
Cruz said in a statement Tuesday that his campaign staff saw a CNN report that Carson was dropping out, although CNN had not characterized Carson's actions that way.
"Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying that Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story," Cruz said in a statement first shared with CNN. "That's fair game. What the team then should have done was send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out."

Sad commentary...no true believing Christian I know would ever subscribe to such a theory, let alone advance it by suggesting such.
Whether or not Cruz knew or should have known, is not my point in addressing your comment.
â Just heard Sean Hannity talking about Rubio and how he was a tea party candidate tooâ
WAS being the operative word...
In car a few minutes ago, Hannity and Newt are positively discussing Rubio....Wow how one day a change makes!
A friend of mine who has Fox BUSINESS on everyday called me over lunch hour and said they need a new “background” channel because Fox Business was all Rubio, all Day today—she was totally disgusted!
Seems words have come down from on high to push Rubio all day, everyday.
If it’s gods will, lying is ok.
Almost sounds like a muzzie thing.

Requirements for president, I think p.38

Well, when his daughters would have Tea Parties, he would attend.
Cruz is turning off a lot of voters who are currently cruz voters. I know quite a few personally.
“when Cruz just repeated what CNN had reported.”
We have a president now in the White Hut who says he gets all of his information from the news. How has that worked out for us? Also, everyone knows the MSM can’t be trusted, including Cruz.
This is an important campaign. If his staffer had heard a rumor from CNN, a thinking man would go directly to the other candidate and verified. If the MSM cannot be trusted generally, why would they be honest this one day miraculously? He knew better.
Lol, so Ted considers CNN an information source above reproach? Stop making yourself look silly. Any half-responsible person or organization should have verified it with the Carson campaign before spreading the rumor out to the caucus locations to try and sway votes.
The first tweet from King suggesting Carson may be quitting was at 7:20pm and he link to a CNN reporter’s tweet that implied as much. How much difference do you think it made in the results? If it was intentional foul play wouldn’t you start a little earlier so the voters would have time to get the message?
“Cruz campaign tactics and heavyhandedness DO NOT reflect well on his character.”
I’m with ya. Many are.
It’s sad. Very sad. I liked him.
First off, I hope you won’t reject Christ because the sin that He died for actually exists.
Second, I hope you recognize that Satan is a liar, and he is constantly working to muddy the waters. In this particular case, the Cruz campaign alerted people to what CNN had reported. Who is the real liar there?
CNN reported in this “scoop” report (the subject of this thread) that CNN had characterized their report as Carson going to FL FIRST, before going on to NH and SC. I’ve posted a link to actual tweets by CNN operatives, saying that CArson would not be going to NH and SC, period. So even in reporting Cruz’ graceful response (taking the blame that CNN should have taken), CNN is not only lying about what happened but using that lie to slander Cruz. We can see it straight in front of our eyeballs. So why are we calling Cruz the liar, when CNN is documentably lying?
Can’t wait for that day.
“Cruz seems to practice a Christian form of Taqiyya, that if you lie in the cause of Jesus, its Okey Dokey,”
‘There is no such thing and for you to equate Christians, any Christian with such an unbiblical premise is beyond the pale.’
Long after the Gang of Eight/Amnesty bill passed overwhelmingly in the Senate, Cruz continued to say he favored the bill, he just wanted to make it better via his amendment. Those of us who have quoted his exact words have been told they’re all lies, designed to support the poison pill. [Long after the poison pill had been roundly defeated.]
How is that not taqiyya?
I find Cruz’s dirty tricks of late to be really disgusting. I had been considering voting for him, but these two latest dirty tricks are serious negatives.
Iowa is a liberal state that often gets the Dim right in their caucus, not so often the Republican.
No - we’re mostly blaming the dumbass Carson campaign for saying, “I’m taking time off” right before the caucus. Who does that?
Did any of them bother to ask Carson? I read where they reported this at a caucus where Carson’s wife was present. Did any of them bother to ask her? No, they had their marching orders. They would press on, truth be damned. Very convenient of them to use CNN as their excuse for not doing what is right. I call it lying because the truth was right there but they chose to ignore the truth for what was politically expedient to their campaign.
Everybody keeps talking about what a wonderful ground game Cruz has. I would think that verifying information from questionable sources would be one of the jobs someone would be tasked with.
But, yes, I’m sure they were all busy, especially the understaffed Carson campaign.
I didn’t hear Cruz say anything about unsuccessfully trying to contact Carson. If they had, I’m sure that would have come out in his statement.
And where did CNN get the story to begin with? Was it from the Carson campaign, officially or unofficially, or was it just a rumor that they heard?
You are absolutely correct, CNN needs to apologize.
