Fueled by a big lead among first-time Iowa likely Republican Caucus participants, Donald Trump jumps to a 31 - 24 percent lead over Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida has 17 percent, with Dr. Ben Carson at 8 percent and no other candidate above 4 percent.

Your wish is my command. Rubio's mailer isn't even in the same ballpark as the vileness of Cruz's:
10% chance of precipitation in Des Moines starting at 11pm
“I think if Trump sent out a mailer like that it wouldn’t get the same reaction. “
I’m a major Trump supporter and I would be EXTREMELY P.O.ed if he had pulled something that underhanded and stupid.
That mailer wasn’t foolish, it wasn’t ignorant, it was just plain STOOPID!!!
“I imagine Iowans just brush that off.”
yeah, snow-state people, like we here in Colorado, tend to be a bit hardier, more used to snow, etc.
Nonetheless, a REALLY big blizzard during or right before caucus here WOULD reduce attendance, with mostly broken-glassers showing up.
oh, I am too! Definitely.
“If you think about it, Cruz had no choice but to say the buck stops here over the mailing”
yeah, and throwing staff under the bus would backfire, BUT the smarter move would have probably been to simply admit that in retrospect he could see how some people might be upset and it probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do after all. Cruz would have looked like a real man saying something to that effect, even Presidential perhaps.
“Compare that to DC, where the whole city shuts down if there is a foot of snow.”
foot? try two inches.
It was interesting when the story first broke how many FReepers tried to attribute the mailing to a dirty tricks squad from some other candidate.

Well, that didn’t last did it? And THOSE FReepers you refer to, I’m convinced, are mostly Democrat trolls paid to stir up trouble here, and not real Cruz supporters anyway.
I was responding to your post #23 (comment above) which was about South Carolina... I doubt there are many black precincts in Iowa...if any.
Also, my comment was about voter fraud NOT about the honest way black citizens would choose to vote. It’s possible some black citizens would vote for Trump... he offers to protect our borders - stopping the flow of illegal cheap labor.
Voter fraud from my limited experience is designed by white liberal elites and carried out in black precincts.
Thank you. FWIW, I don’t like Rubio’s either, not at all, but it’s not threatening and it doesn’t put people’s names on other people’s mailings. It doesn’t imply that gov is keeping tabs on non-voters. Rubio’s mailing would get an “upset concerned voter” call from me to the campaign. Cruz’s crosses every conceivable line....it stretches to the breaking point proper use of the information.
It was 60 degrees when I was out at lunch. I saw one convertible with the top down, and lots of BU undergrads in shorts.

Sigh. high of 29 today, low of 17 tonight. snowing now, about 6” down, 100% chance of more for next 24, 7 more possible.
I feel your pain. Last year at this time Boston was under a historic amount of snow. It was 61 degrees today. That Ground Hog is going down tomorrow!
