AMES, Iowa - Rep. Steve King , an Iowa Republican and Ted Cruz supporter, says Donald Trump bought his endorsements. Trump recently received high profile endorsements from Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and Liberty University president Jerry Falwell, Jr.
King reiterated his statement about the endorsements to the Daily Caller on Saturday during a Cruz rally at the Gateway Hotel and stressed that he "knows things."
"He has, from a regular person's perspective, unlimited resources and he's willing to use whatever access he has in order to get the endorsements that he wants," King explained.
"Among those are the assets that we would naturally think of, including the attraction that might be for, oh who knows, a reality TV show, a job in the Trump machine," he said.
King added: "There's fame and fortune, and there's also the fear factor of retribution, which Donald Trump has not been shy about delivering against people. So all of that affects a person's judgment under those circumstances."
The conservative Iowa congressman would not get specific, but would only say, "I know things, but I'm saying what is appropriate, so that people will know enough, and I'm wanting to keep this on as high a plane as I can, but I don't think my conscience can allow me from not saying anything."
Inaccurate. Trump's creditors had to accept renegotiated terms. If you think that large-scale, business-to-business bankers making $ multi-million business investments went without food or clothing because of this, you are naive.
One of the main reasons for the business restructuring was to preserve the jobs of the many employees and little people by keeping the business running. He could have folded it and simply worked out a different deal with the lenders.
Face it, you don't like Trump, and are desperate to post a smoking gun. But your actual knowledge of finance is outclassed and outstipped. Posting financial opinion is not your strong suit. So stop trying to be Woodward and Bernstein here, and just focus on why you do like your candidate and why you want what he represents, and you'll feel better.
Oooh, I hear him coming to take your driveway right now! Be scared, everyone!
Eminent domain is a part of our society and utterly necessary if we are to build or upgrade infrastructure. Just a few years ago, I had some of my property claimed in order for the town to install city sewer (they decided a pumping station had to be built in my yard). My lawyer and I negotiated with the town and we came to an amiable and reasonable agreement. I also know somebody who lives near where they are building the replacement for the Tappan Zee bridge. Years of major disruption going on there and the state has obtained some properties already. Others are living through years of noise and construction. It sucks for them but the alternative is having the current bridge eventually fall into the Hudson.
Faction is the death of the republic.
Well, what else could be a reasonable for these conservatives to endorse Trump. It could be either financial benefits, or extortion over private skeletons Trump found through investigations. My guess is the latterratherthan the former.
Anyone who thinks Trump wouldn’t do it is naive.
Organizations ask for donations all the time. Did Vander Plaats ask for money to be paid to himself personally , or his organization?
where were these polls? I have not seen any and would be quite interested.
It’s ok to disagree with someone. But lately, based on my observations, it’s gone beyond, way beyond simple disagreement.
I do agree with you about faction, but we should be working to ensure that when the current dustup settles, we’re all still on the same side and willing to move forward together, united in purpose.
It has always been so. Where have you been? That's why valedictorians, Boy Scouts and choirmasters have such a hard time with it, why the Republicans never develop a winning strategy against evil, and why the GOP is called "the Stupid Party." Republicans and conservatives think their personal morality or the professions of their faith should be enough, as if the near-complete destruction of Christian values in American law since the 60s has not taken place -- but it has. Jimmy Carter tried the shame route to try to get things done and failed enormously.
The world belongs to the devil. But Christ has already conquered the world; he is letting people choose sides. Leaders are anointed by God and He has ultimate control over what gets done and how it all turns out, for His purposes. His Hand is even on Obama. The lies of the left wing have been accepted by many so-called Christians of past generations, who have allowed our governance to slip from their hands, as Christianity has now been all but criminalized in this country, in cooperation with the UN and the EU, with the full approval of the Chicoms and the caliphate.
Cruz acts as if Christianity were still the moral law in the halls of power in this nation. He is wrong about that, and as such Cruz is behind the curve regarding Christianity. If elected, he will not be able to stamp his foot and make people accept the Cross; that Commission has been squandered by decades of liberalism in the pulpits, the seminaries and the pews.
Trump sees that the populace has been liberalized and made decadent by years of lies and incompetence; has promised to protect Christians as a demographic in our nation, and recognizes that Christians are being persecuted, abroad and at home. As such, Trump is ahead of the curve regarding Christianity.
Trump wants to support the rights of the people who uphold the Christian founding of our Constituion. Cruz, on the other hand, takes for granted the strength of an emasculated Christian population and tries to shame voters.
I'm voting for a man of incisive, precisely engineered action who can do more to protect Christianity simply by being a high-calibre man of action -- rather than a talker, legalist and moralist who has already been in government for decades without noticeable success at protecting my rights as a Christian.
Painfully apparent.
Yeah, I am laughing. You trumpanzees are 5 times worse than Obama worshipers. Although it will be a sad day when you people realize what a mistake you have made, I wonder if you will at least be smart enough to admit it.
By the way, what business or law school did you go to? I ran out of money and did not make it to Wharton, my daddy wasn’t rich.
PS - If you know how to use Google, you can spend 15 minutes researching donnie and find out just what a scumbag businessman and person he is.
That is a very accurate analogy... well said!
Yes all these high profile people just bought off. If they had supported Teddy Steve King would be telling you about their high levels of integrity. LOL!
BTW what has Steve King got to say about Teddy’s shaming letters?
Laughable.
I agree with your post. A pox on both the houses of the haters.
I agree with your wise post. I have an easement on my property that forbids me from fencing off a strip of land. I have had to fight hard to keep people from thinking they can use that strip for their personal recreation purposes; but I was grateful that the easement was there and I had not fenced it off when a forest fire broke out yards away behind my yard and the fire vehicles had a clear access via my easement. Which is what it was intended for.
Even the Bible warns against "parties" or factionalism: Galations 5:20.
You simply assumed I didn't? And you know this how?
Your screed is unworthy of a reply beyond this.
Disagree about what? Facts and substance? Or about whom they’ll support, irrespective of facts?
Please clarify. And back up with facts and substance!
Saying “a majority disagrees with you” reveals nothing about the intelligence or decision-making ability of the “majority.”
A majority elected Obama.
Twice.
That’s what I keep telling the rabid Cruz supporters and it was Chapter 11; which isn’t bankruptcy anyway.
