...At this very critical juncture in our history, while our nation and our liberties have been ravaged by the Obama years, and life as we know it in this nation hangs precariously by a thread, Fox News, Limbaugh, Levin, and Hannity have gambled with our future, knowing we have no collateral to back up the game. For months, these fair weather friends of conservatism have heaped slovenly, starry-eyed adoration on Donald Trump. Trump - that gilded toad, who's conservative history began at about the time he decided to run as a Republican has been shoved in our faces from the day he announced, garnering twice as much attention as any actual, proven conservative candidate by Fox News...
Mark Levin's fans are voicing feeble defenses of the man these days, pointing out how harsh he's being with Trump. GEE... Welcome to the party, Mark! For months, Levin couldn't stop talking of Trump's brilliant strategy, how he was tapping into conservative angst. He wasn't PC and the so-called establishment couldn't stand it! Oddly enough, in 2011, Levin said of Trump, "Trump is NOT the real deal. He will get Obama re-elected. This is not a game. This is not a circus. He is not a conservative... We should not encourage this," But a mere 4 years later, Levin was one more clown under the Big Top. His recent return to his senses is too little, too late...

Gilded Toad is a funny term.
There is no such thing.
Fox News (NewsCorp) execs endorse John Kerry in 2004. The network is not conservative. Some of the programming leans right in commentary.
Jesus... Can RedState just die already?
Another helpful screed from Redstate.
Redstate is part of the Salem Media conglomerate that now owns most of the once-independent conservative outlets like Human Events, Regnery Publishing, Eagle Publishing and of course Salem Radio that broadcasts Mark Levin.
Between Salem and National Review we have been treated to non-stop criticism of Donald Trump but apparently unless Rush and Hannity join the chorus and Mark Levin steps up stronger the end of the world is upon us.
An excellent article. Levin deserves the barbs he gets in the piece, though at least he has since come to his senses.
I wonder how this will play in light of the fact that Trump was buying positive media coverage from Trumpbart...whose distaste for Cruz began, coincidentally enough, around the same time as Trump announced his candidacy. One wonders if other conservative media outlets will be outed as well, as many have shown surprisingly sudden changes in behavior and belief since the “gilded toad” began his quest.
First, RedState has zero credibility.
Second, there is no “conservative media”. Nor should there be. It’s bad enough that most of the media leans left but you cannot right a wrong by doing the same thing in the opposite direction. Media should be unbiased and have the integrity to report both sides objectively. As much as people hate it, the Fairness Doctrine was created with that goal in mind.
But when all media is supported by advertising it is inevitable that performers like Rush, Levin, Hannitty and all the rest must create a persona in order to form a bond with their audience. High ratings is a measure that they’ve done that well, not that they know what they’re talking about or have any special knowledge or expertise. “Sports Talk” is a perfect example.
Levin is not a Salem product.
Salem stations licensed him because their own shows were lagging.
“Some of the programming leans right in commentary.”
Yeah, that’s what “fair an balanced” means. You have an idiot from NRO like Rich Lowry on with a wild-eyed Commie bitch like Tamara Holder or Jessica Tarlov.

Never has this been more apparent than this year’s Fox hosted debates. It may be my imagination, but Bret Baier almost looks embarrassed sometimes. For sure Wallace and Kelly seem to relish in their role as gotcha moderaters.

Red State Irrational
It’s the worst kind
Have there been primary debates in past years where the same moderators got to go several times (on different nights) against the candidates?
Are there REALLY that few people available there who could moderate a debate?
I wonder if Susan may indeed be Libbylu....
This sort of emotionally histrionic bile laced attack from a a nobody at Red State on the decade long Conservative leaders like Limbaugh is infantile and stupid poltics.
Screaming in hysterics at people then expecting them to change to your candidate is moronic political tactics.
My indictment of the so-called “conservative media” would be entirely different:
1) They completely failed to understand the Trump phenomenon-—what ISSUES he was appealing on, why those ISSUES were important, and why NO ONE else, even Cruz, really could be trusted on those ISSUES.
2) They have completely misread Trump’s “unfavorables” (see Stephen the idiot Hayes and his comments today on Twitter), and continue to do so. Since he is not a politician, traditional political “unfavorability” ratings are meaningless. He is a celebrity, and his “unfavorables” as the guy who says “You’re fired” must be viewed like those of Richard Petty, or J.R. Ewing, or “the Undertaker” in WWF-—characters you boo, who have “unfavorables,” who nevertheless are virtually adored. It’s because people understand a “character” and a real person. Trump the real person connects. There is absolutely NO other explanation for why his poll numbers are so incredibly high.
3) Only Rush Limbaugh, in ALL the “conservative media,” has really tried to get into what is happening and for the most part he’s doing a great job. He understands this isn’t about switching out guys at the top. This is a revolution against “the system” and the whole elite, “inside-the-club” way of doing things. Cruz is IN the club. He may be relegated to the cloakroom he’s so unpopular, but he is in the club.
4) ALL the conservative media except Rush and maybe Hannity and Levin face potential loss of serious dollars if Trump wins. Their “beltway” contacts would be useless, their “inside sources” wouldn’t be talking and they and their pals won’t get jobs in the White House press office (Dana Perrino). They see their $$ flying away.
“Levin is not a Salem product.”
A distinction without a difference in this case. Salem’s flagship station KRLA in Los Angeles gave Mark afternoon drive in place of Hugh Hewitt’s program. Hewitt has the better show for political junkies despite Hugh being a bootlicking GOPe weasel.
That may have occurred to a number of us....
