DES MOINES, Iowa — Donald J. Trump, a billionaire and currently the front-running 2016 GOP presidential candidate, made the case exclusively to Breitbart News on Saturday that the only way to stop Obamatrade is to elect him President of the United States.

Obamatrade is the combination of and intersection between the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), which passed Congress last year and greases the skids for the congressional approval of various trade deals by lowering U.S. Senate vote thresholds from 60 votes to 51 votes and killing the ability of Congress to amend those deals, and those various trade deals.

greases the skids...

how about plain English??

does it do those things or not?

does it lower the bar to 51 votes and weaken senate power on agreements or will the actual TPP vote do that?

this is too important an issue to fudge words with.

I remember Perot saying: that giant sucking sound is jobs leaving America for other countries.

And I remember Buchanan saying: the vast middle class will be destroyed by the planned transfer of American jobs to other countries.

The bedrock principle of American conservatism is love of America.

I want America to produce for America. Our strength is in our unmatched productivity. So I will have two shirts instead of twenty shorts. So what, we will be a country.

It was Ted Cruzs’ cheer leading the TPP enabling TPA that caused me to realize that Cruz is a globalist. I will never willingly or knowingly support a globalist.

Friedman is a free traitor.

Yup, we need government bureaucrats to determine what we can and cannot buy because free people freely making decisions in their best interests isn't really freedom.

That’s a nice fairy tale but there is no “free market”.

Yeah, Friedman was an idealist and knew nothing of pragmatism. Sure.

Friedman argued that we should pursue the greatest freedom in trade possible. He was right. He also argued that greater freedom in trade would lead to freer markets just like a smaller government leads to freer markets. You either believe in freedom or you don't. Are you one of those big government conservatives?

Of course! Raising taxes and central control of wealth --all for the greater good-- is what protectionism is all about. Somehow I've never seen it as being well, conservative...
