A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll in Iowa finds Donald Trump has pulled ahead of Ted Cruz with a seven point lead among likely Iowa GOP caucus-goers, 32% to 25%.

Key finding: "The poll also shows Trump in a close race with Cruz among likely voters who are white Evangelical Christians, 31% to 28%. The two candidates have been battling over the influential bloc of voters in the state, with each touting endorsements from Evangelical heavyweights in recent days."

In the Democratic race, Hillary Clinton remains just three points in front of Bernie Sanders, 48% to 45%.

The recent killing of black church goers sends a message to all murderous muslims: their churches are unguarded and are an open invitation to a slaughter.

This must be the 2,000th Iowa poll since this madness started back in June. I can't wait to put Iowa and it's much ballyhooed evangelicals in the rear view mirror for another four years. Just four more days...

I don't know about the validity of this here poll but if Cruz winning Iowa is predicated on him winning the vast majority of the "evangelical" vote. If it's even close among that group between Trump and Cruz, then it probably won't be close overall.

Remember that Santorum "won" in 2012 with less than 30,000 votes statewide. And even then, he only had 34 more votes than second place Mitt Romney.

Also, to underscore the relative meaningless of the Iowa caucus, consider that Santorum had ZERO Iowa delegates at the RNC that year. So much for winning Iowa.

Trivia question. Does anybody know who brought most of the Iowa delegates to the national convention? No, it wasn't Mitt Romney.

It was Ron Paul - who finished THIRD in Iowa.

Can't wait for Iowa to end. Enough already. Enough of ethanol and corn and evangelicals. I have nothing against the good people of Iowa but I have Iowa fatigue.

I am noticing that Fox is really promoting Rubio this morning. After reading about Murdoch;s support of Rubio on Breitbart, everything is falling into place.

Did you catch Trump's campaign manager, Cory L, let us know last night that the exec at Fox in charge of the debate has daughter who is a senior staffer on the Rubio campaign?

More media/political incest. Another Freeper pointed out how it was interesting that Rubio was so prepared for that debate in contrast to others... like maybe he might have known the questions in advance???

Maybe that's not true at all, but this intermingling between the press and consultants and campaign strategists... it raises questions.

They had some Iowa Republican poobah on TV the other night talking about this.

He said it was embarrassing, and that the rules have been changed so that Iowa delegates are required to reflect the voters' choice on the first ballot.

I share your Iowa fatigue, although I have been engrossed in this. Just imagine if you lived in Iowa; you'd never be able to have a peaceful moment without pollsters and campaigners hounding you...

Boom...another group that needs to back Trump. Black pastors and their congregations are prime targets for the murderous Muzzies. Course Hillary is hell-bent on getting that vote. Black pastors need to memorize her words and preach, preach, preach.

REFERENCE When Hillary announced, she named four areas of her campaign focus: Number 4 was "Protecting Americans from external threats"

(waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

This as news reports ISIS terrorists are coming over the border, and salted in Syrian refugee hordes Obama is bringing into America. So don't expect candidate Hillary to actually do anything to protect Americans against this threat.

Hillary says: We must respect and empathize w/ Islamics (those who behead children)

Hillary Clinton has said some stupid things but this is simply astonishing: "This is what we call smart power," Clinton said to a small audience at Georgetown. "Using every possible tool and partner to advance peace and security. Leaving no one on the sidelines. Showing respect even for one's enemies. Trying to understand, in so far as psychologically possible, empathize with their perspective and point of view. Helping to define the problems, determine the solutions. That is what we believe in the 21st century will change -- change the prospects for peace."

Yup - the whole thing stinks. Leave it to Mr. Trump to blow this up, and in perfect time.

Yes, before he announced that he would not participate in the FoxNews debate.

Hillary and Bill have been slipping secrets to our enemies - sometimes through shady deals, sometimes through incompetence - since at least 1993. She will do nothing to stop muzzie immigration. The Saudies and Iranians own her.

Thanks to both of you.

Monday is the voting, so Friday, Saturday, Sunday would be outside the range of the decision, but we don’t normally see new polling done then.

Yes Judy! I agree with you. I mentioned on a few threads that while the Cruz crew may *think* Trump’s absence means more mic time for their guy, FOX will not allow that. FOX is going to treat Cruz like crap and Rubio will be the star.

And I don’t want to hear one Cruz-bot complain about FOX when it’s all over! They know going in that FOX is dirty and they still want their guy there.

RUBIO will be crowed about on FOX all day and crowned King by FOX tomorrow and Cruz will lose his #2 spot....

This is where I get frustrated with Trump. Why didn’t he tell people about the three youtube creeps they were going to bring in to question? I’m sure he knew because he kept saying there are things we don’t know. Well, tell us!

I thought that too, at first. Now I think, Trump knows what he is doing. Obviously he decided that the less he said on BOR the better.

Evangelical Christians are smart, they are going to go with a winner and recognize Trump as the person who can win the general.

Fox was hitting Trump with a Hitler Ambush.

That is an absolutely unbelievable sentence to write, but it is true.

Trump has said he doesn’t do bad deals. He will renegotiate or he will walk away. With this one he walked away.

He refused to be ambushed like Custer at the Little Big Horn. And the other side, the media, his “friend” O’Reilly, Cruz and his supporters, and even some of his supporters are shouting: “Go the the Little Big Horn, Custer, Go, Go, Go....who cares about a few little ole Indians.”

Plus, I think that each and every Iowa voter has already personally met Ted Cruz at least three times. Or so I am told.
