Trump isn't the first top-tier presidential candidate to skip a debate. Ronald Reagan did not attend a Republican debate ahead of the 1980 Iowa caucuses, which he lost to George H.W. Bush. Reagan went on to the win the nomination and the presidency.

This has nothing to do with Megyn Smelly!

Crap. Two days ago Trump and his people were all over the media saying how if Megyn Kelly was a moderator then they might not show up at the debate. Fox called him on it and mocked him and that's how we've reached this point. But it was always about Kelly, and all the denials from Trump and his minions won't change facts.

When he’s President, he won’t worry about the press as he will be busy building a wall and sending illegals back to their country. I’m sure then you’ll see the PRESS having the hissy fit as they will see him do what he said he was going to do and will get it done, but the PRESS doesn’t want things fixed as they want the destruction of this country.

Trump is following the Reagan playbook.

Nonsense. Reagan didn't say he'd attend if a certain moderator was removed. Or that he'd attend if the newspaper donated the profits to charity. He made it clear he wasn't going to attend, period. He didn't complain about the Register being mean to him.

It has to do with Fox’ total bias. Megyn Smelly is the symptom.

And you’re OK with muslim extremists? Let’s put you on record right here, and right now. I’m getting the impression you’re a troll that just signed up to Free Republic. Enjoy your quick stay if this is your plan to use it to trash Freepers.

If Trump wins in a landslide will you come back here and apologize for being wrong? Can we all give you “I told you so” type of ridicule?

Cruz wouldn’t be so thin skinned to act like a child and grab his bag of marbles and go home! He would have unloaded on him at the debate, just like he did to CNBC.

There was a person at a local Trump rally in Florida holding a sign made with the picture of Jesus and it had Trumps face and it said Trump is God, and it was used in a mockingly way and of course the media pit of 20-30 cameras all panned to that guy and were talking to him (of course) figuring they'd use this guy to make Trump supporters look nuts, when the guy was really a liberal protester.

The libtard media is always looking for ways to smear Christianity, and that liberal protester was their proverbial stone, as in "kill two birds", i.e., make Christians AND Trump supporters look absolutely crazy.

Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, is ABOVE being involved in politics. He is in the soul saving business, NOT the political campaign business. Anyone using His Name for cheap political purposes is a total dirt bag.

So now you're backtracking and saying she was the symptom and not the reason? Really?

Your kidding about thoughts being siilar to Reagan, right? Hew may be a lot of things, but not another Reagan.

I am not wearing a licensed thought-monitor. I asked a question in my post #3 but did not make a statement. Still, both Reagan and Trump had the same thought in that they both decided (in their respective thought processes) to skip the last debate in 1980 and 2016 before the Iowa vote. My rhetorical question was if it was accidental or deliberate on DT's part.

Reagan was attempting to explain his action, the moderator attempted to turn off Reagan’s microphone, leading to Reagan’s legendary statement “I am paying for this microphone, Mr. Breen!” GHW Bush never recovered as Reagan went on to bury the field.

***********
Trump’s actions were compared to this Reagan moment “I paid for this microphone” on Morning Joe today.
