Fox has defended Megyn Kelly's obvious ambush of Donald Trump in the first debate. Now, Fox gets into a pissing contest with Donald Trump, publishes a snide, snarky commentary about him and intends to bring in a Muslim apologist/defender to pick up on the ambush theme. Megyn "had a tough couple of days after the last debate" don't ya know. "Self-inflicted wounds are ALWAYS the most painful and embarrassing."
While I've been a Cruz supporter, Trump made the right decision to sit out the debate. As a former infantryman, I wouldn't knowingly walk into an ambush either.
Now the ball is in Fox's court and the intended ambush will go on. Kelly won't be able to set her ego aside and she'll open with an equally snarky commentary and question to someone - probably Ted Cruz - about Donald Trump. Even though he won't be there, the debate will be about Donald Trump and the candidates will have an opportunity to take their shots.
But then, with the encouragement of Fox News and Megyn Kelly, Nabela Noor, a Muslim apologist who equates Trump with Hitler, will have her opportunity to join the ambush and every candidate - including Ted Cruz - will have a decision to make. "Will I side with this Muslim apologist, or will I defend Donald Trump? Should I point out the historical relationship between the Muslim Brotherhood, Islam, the Nazi Party and the SS?" - assuming they even know. Most, if not all, will take the politically correct road and seal the fate of their candidacy; it is a GOP debate, after all. American voters of all stripes aren't likely to support a candidate who sounds like a slightly watered-down version of Mullah Obama.
The outcome? Trump wins - even though he won't be there, and Megyn Kelly has another 'tough couple of days'. Ted Cruz, in particular, is the one who has the most to lose and the primaries could be settled before the first vote is cast.
A wise general never allows his enemies to determine the time and place of future battles. Being under attack from all directions, Trump had everything to lose and nothing to gain from knowingly walking into a hostile environment of desperate second-stringers and career-building narcissistic and petulant moderators. He did the right thing with the “takeaway close.” Now, he’s being excoriated by the very people who claim to be “fair and balanced.” There’s your answer as to why he withdrew. They’re exposing themselves as hypocrites who were attempting to create a media spectacle and political bloodbath.
Cruz can now deal with the Google social media retards and their questions.
Hope it works out well for him.
Maybe Kelly will ask Cruz if he has heard from God lately, one more time.
That was a disgusting, insulting remark.
For that alone, I would never appear on a stage with that bleeder ever again.
No, he’s not a puppet. He’s an egomaniac.
When I see her face I cannot get to the remote fast enough to change the channel. Just the the Daily Show that host that just retired cannot get to the remote fast enough!!
Go Trump!
Make America Great Again!!
GO GO GO !! LOL Mullah Obama is dead on LITERALLY. Not funny.
Hit the old Nail on the Head with that one!!!
Beg to disagree here.
Trump has lobbed a ball into two courts, neither one of them being Fox News (haters gonna hate, after all).
No, the first court is the other candidates. By showing up and laying down in front of Fox News' determination to show itself to be the Republican kingmaker, all the rest of the field show how venal and compromised they are. The electorate is filled with low information and sheepish voters, I know. But, they're not all that way. When Trump tells Fox to go to hell, he highlights now every other candidate refuses to say "Go to Hell."
The second court Trump aims at is the RNC. Where in Hell are they? Have they ceded to Fox to do their political dirty work? Sure looks like it to me. Again, more in the electorate are savvy to this than they think.
The biggest loser here is likely Cruz. He could show himself to be a genuine class act by walking out of the debate himself. He can show himself as making a kind of common cause with Trump that Cruz supporters would praise, and Trump supporters would as well. How many Cruz supporters have you see around here saying, "Well, I'm not a Trump man, but still ..." That sentiment, coming from the Trump side in response to Cruz's refusal to walk into an ambush would galvanize the voting public against the inbred RNC which goes awhoring with the likes of Fox News.
Wow, you have it completely wrong. Trump did the right thing and he has once again shown his leadership. There is no upside in it for him to attend, it only gives more airtime to the low end candidates who cannot survive on their own. Nobody will be watching this debate, Cruz and the others will be talking to the wall..
As a Cruz supporter I have to say that Trump and Megyn have a personal feud that doesn’t make either one of them look any better, as is most often the case with personal feuds.
Tactically speaking, Trump skipping the debate is a win for Cruz. He is by far the best debater, and the more time he gets, the better. And who won’t watch the debate because Trump isn’t there? In the bag Trump supporters and gawking Democrats won’t tune in, no loss for Cruz. Not a single undecided conservative will skip the debate due to Trump’s absence, and they’ll all see Cruz in high form.
Trump doesn’t make many PR mistakes, but I think this was one. I appreciate the desire to avoid ambushes, but every media appearance carries that threat for a Republican. Failing to enter the field, for fear that an ambush awaits makes the ambush unnecessary.
Yes, Fox will likely lose money. I don’t care, I don’t own Fox stock. How that personal feud churns and boils is of no concern to me. Trump creates about one a week, so there is no reason to rubber neck this one.
What does Trump think? If he is running against Hillary in the general election the msm will make Kelley look like a local info babe asking softball questions to the local library board. Will he take his ball and go home then too?
“I don’t like Donald Trump, never have, but I do appreciate two things about him. One, he has used his oversized foot to break down a locked door and barge past filters that the news establishment would have used to blanket and silence anyone else on the subject of illegal immigration. I’ve got no confidence at all that he meant any of it but his sheer chutzpah and opportunism put the subject and how most Americans feel about it on page one above the fold.
And two, one doesn’t have to be a fan to appreciate pure skill on display. Trump makes it look like he’s calculated nothing but the results (so far ... things may still change when actual votes begin coming in) indicate he’s been playing chess on everybody’s checkerboard. “
Bears repeating. Trump has made this election into a choice between Trump and America vs the Media and Elite.
That may not be the actual choice, but that is how Trump has mangaged it.
Most Americans know they have been manipulated and lied to by the Media and Elite, who are one cozy group.
Trump has come in and kicked the Media in the teeth, and said. “I am your choice against Them and the Elite”. I will make America Great again.
It may be pure populist opportunism, but that is how he has framed it.
It likely has quite a bit of truth to it.
“If he is running against Hillary in the general election the msm will make Kelley look like a local info babe asking softball questions to the local library board. Will he take his ball and go home then too?”
If they do, the public will see right through them. Trump has enough media of his own to show them up, just as he is doing now with Fox.
In addition, Trump has shown himself adept at the strategy of divide and conquer the media. They need his ratings. They do *not* have a central command.
Their leftists bias is based on shared ideology, not a command structure, so they cannot adopt a comprehensive and uniform strategy, which is what they need to accomplish what you suggest.
The writer noted that no sensible person walks into an ambush. Willingness to do so is not a measure of character but a measure of common sense. You fail.
Why is it an ambush or trump hating when ANYONE uses his own words against him?
He puts out there he will do an illegal debate with Trump
While Trump is getting 24/7 free media
Sadly the rest of the convoy didn't do so well...
Good one!
Again with the foolishness. Counsel like this is why Repubs keep losing.
Where is the wisdom in doing the same thing again and again, but expecting different results?
Yes, how dare he refuse to follow the script written by others for his destruction.
