As a Cruz supporter I have to say that Trump and Megyn have a personal feud that doesn’t make either one of them look any better, as is most often the case with personal feuds.

Tactically speaking, Trump skipping the debate is a win for Cruz. He is by far the best debater, and the more time he gets, the better. And who won’t watch the debate because Trump isn’t there? In the bag Trump supporters and gawking Democrats won’t tune in, no loss for Cruz. Not a single undecided conservative will skip the debate due to Trump’s absence, and they’ll all see Cruz in high form.

Trump doesn’t make many PR mistakes, but I think this was one. I appreciate the desire to avoid ambushes, but every media appearance carries that threat for a Republican. Failing to enter the field, for fear that an ambush awaits makes the ambush unnecessary.

Yes, Fox will likely lose money. I don’t care, I don’t own Fox stock. How that personal feud churns and boils is of no concern to me. Trump creates about one a week, so there is no reason to rubber neck this one.

It won’t get more then 6 million viewers. It will be a bore fest. Cruz will lose the debate to Rubio who kicked his butt last debate. So no Cruz is not nearly the best debater. He is a bragger with no accomplishments in the Senate.

about half the potential audience. The last debate on Fox Business drew 11 million viewers, this one will probably draw 5-6 million. I admit that I never intended to watch...there's been waaaay too many of these staged events with too many losers on the stage.

With respect, I’m not so sure it’s a win for Ted Cruz - YET. The spotlight will be on him and whether he sticks to his principles or plays nice with Megyn Kelly and Nabela Noor (whoever the hell she is).

What I’m personally most interested in is: 1) How Ted Cruz comports himself when goaded to beat up on Trump; and 2) How he responds to the commentary of the Muslim apologist that Fox and Google are bringing in to ambush Trump. If he plays the politically-correct, wishy-washy “I know most Muslims are tolerant, loving, peaceful people and Islam is a peaceful religion...” B.S. (i.e., imitates Jeb Bush), I am done with him.

This debate will ultimately (and unintentionally - at least on the part of Fox) wash out more than a couple candidates for good. The question is, will Cruz be one of them?
