Rick Santorum said he will reconsider his presidential campaign if he fails to finish "ahead of the pack that's sitting in single digits right now" in the Iowa caucuses next week.
"If the people of Iowa put their faith in me, we're going to continue on," Santorum told the Des Moines Register Sunday.
The former Pennsylvania senator surprised pollsters with his narrow victory in Iowa in 2012.
But eight days ahead of the Iowa caucuses, Santorum sits at just 1.2 percent in the Hawkeye State, according to the RealClear average of Republican polls.

And Rand Paul’s supporters might want to consider throwing in with Cruz.
They already are, to a certain extent.
Part of the libertarian agreement with Ted Cruz is that many are pro-life.
The debates need to be pared down to about four people, so Trump will have more time to speak.
Why? The unwashed are rejecting True Conservatives.
Don’t waste your time.

Yes, because Trump is so knowledgeable and informative.
Maybe he could really explain himself if he had more time.
Perhaps if he didn’t insult others he could use his time to
speak in detail on the issues with which he appears to have
such a grasp.
He’s running?
If the group of losers would drop out of the race and ask their supporters to caucus for Cruz...I think He’d actually win.
Won’t happen though....
I can’t see why anyone would want to continue a campaign once it is obvious they cannot possibly win!? I just don’t understand it....
he’s said all I need to hear.
IOWA:
16 POINTS that would be better in Ted Cruz’s column.
Carson: 7.4
Paul: 3.4
Huckabee 2.4
Fiorina 1.6
Santorum 1.2
Big-government Santorum. No thanks. Nice guy, but no thanks.
Some other candidate (Bush? Trump? ) want this segment of the electorate divided...??
Everyone except the top 5 is in it for the publicity.
Santoum should have never entered in the first place.....he likes to ‘hang around’ and see what political points he can gain by staying.....he reminds me of McCain but wears a Halo.
I’m really against the guy as we had more than enough of his political game playing here in PA.
I don’t think it’s wrong for them to enter, but there comes a time when they should leave.
....”Everyone except the top 5 is in it for the publicity.”....
And even some in the top five are in it to see what “deals” they can get by throwing their weight behind those who will come out on top....lots of wheeling and dealing happens behind the scenes.
