Trump's Boast: Blacks will like me better than Obama
Fox News ^ | 1/24/2016 | Howard Kurtz

Posted on 01/24/2016 11:00:27 AM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

In an interview airing Sunday on Fox's "Media Buzz," Trump told me there is already great affection for him in the black community.

"Look, the African Americans love me because they know I am going to bring back jobs," he told me at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.

Okay, a pretty standard Trumpian boast. But then he said this:

"They are going to like me better than they like Obama. The truth is Obama has done nothing for them."

The statement was so audacious that it took me a split-second to react.

"Did you just say," I interrupted, "African-Americans are going to like you better than the first African-American president."

The billionaire didn't back off.

"I think that relatively speaking - I mean he does have a slight advantage in all fairness- but I think relatively speaking when I am finished I think they will absolutely love Donald Trump," he said.

Keep in mind that most blacks routinely vote for Democrats. Ronald Reagan once got 14 percent of the African-American vote and it was considered a triumph. There was one poll last fall that showed Trump with 25 percent support among blacks, but it would be a shocker if those numbers held up.

In the interview, Trump told me he has cut back his attacks on members of the media as losers and idiots because the press is treating him with more respect, mentioning the Wall Street Journal editorial page and a recent Time cover story. Soon after we wrapped the interview, though, National Review attacked Trump as a menace to American conservatism, and he responded by calling it a failing publication with little influence. It was as if things had suddenly returned to normal.

Republicans seem scared of winning for some reason.

Establishment Republicans prefer a "strategic loss" with any candidate who will keep the multi-Trillion Dollar Uncle Sam Gravy Train running. GOP-e and the media keep getting richer whether Democrats or Republicans are in office.

Trump would interrupt the gravy train.

and then improve their lot during his presidency

That is the biggie. I think he can, But he can do only so much. He will need congress to help him roll back the damage Obama and the democRATS have heaped upon this country.

That is why Trump needs to win in a HUGE landslide.

The real lesson in Trump’s comment is not about it’s accuracy. More tellingly is how he expertly disputes the premise of the question, and forcefully argues the opposite is true. This is why he succeeds.

Trump's Boast: Blacks will like me better than Obama

That's a fairly low bar.

I don't think Obama likes him at all.....

Got to make deals or Government at a standstill. The trick is to make them deals that are good for America & Americans.

I agree but there is no disputing that blacks have gotten a raw deal from illegal immigration.

Only because they allowed it to happen. They don't do anything about their problems, they just whine that the "gubmint ain't helpin' us", instead of taking the initiative and cleaning up their own communities.

"My people say that I could stand on 5th avenue and shoot someone........" is not the same as,

" I could stand on 5th avenue and shoot someone."

Small omission, but like misuse of commas, changes the entire meaning.

Ignorance or purposeful?

I honestly don’t know. I do know that black folks normally vote 90-10 for the D. Maybe Trump Can change that. Like I said I don’t know.

LOL, "Let's eat grandma" is a lot different than "Let's eat, grandma."

Yup.

One can easily google the speech and hear the entire sentence, in context, or one can post a portion of the sentence, similar to what msnbc puts out as product.

I think that its more subtle than that.
The liberal welfare system stacked the deck against the poor Blacks: more money if there’s no father, a bigger apartment, your own apartment after x# of kids, more money if your child is classified as disabled, more money for not working. The worst part is rewarding Moms for having more children that they can’t afford to raise and having those children classified to raise the welfare payment and then those children are in special ed classes so they have don’t have the tools to escape the system.

Then add in all the men who make their very good living out of telling AA’s that they are victims. Sharpton goes from church to church preaching that and getting a portion of that weeks tithe. Every person that tells them they are victims is trying to use them and robbing them of their chances of making something of their lives.

I use the example of the circus elephant. A huge elephant won’t escape when they are tied to a stake even though they could easily break away from it. Why? Because they were conditioned to believe that would always be the case because they were too weak as a baby to break away from it, and just accepted it would always be the case.
