Cruz: Trump can't wait to cut deals with Dems
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/21/16 | Kelly Cohen

Ted cruz vs Hannity Full Interview 1/20/2016 (Video)

Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday cast front-runner Donald Trump as an establishment candidate who's already positioning himself to cut deals with Democrats.

"Donald is publicly bragging about how all the big establishment players are getting behind him, and his criticism of me is he said I went to Washington and actually stood up and fought in Washington and Donald has said, well, the problem he has with me is that I won't go along to get along in Washington," the Texas senator said in an interview Wednesday night with Fox News' Sean Hannity.

"He'll go along to get along," Cruz said. "I've got to tell you Sean, you know the conservatives across this country, I don't think the problem with Washington is we haven't had enough Republicans willing to cut deals with the Democrats."

Cruz said Republicans and Democrats cut deals daily, such as the "horrible omnibus bill that funded a trillion dollars, funded all of Obama's big government priorities."

"And the establishment seems to have made a determination Donald Trump's a guy they can make a deal with who will continue the cronyism and corporate welfare and bailouts for big banks," he added. "And I think that we're seeing conservatives getting behind us, and we're seeing the Washington establishment getting behind Donald Trump, interestingly enough."

Cruz also criticized Trump for supporting Democratic policies in the past, adding that Trump and Sen. Bernie Sanders "have basically the same healthcare plan."

"Donald Trump enthusiastically supported the [Troubled Asset Relief Program] bailout of big banks. I opposed it. He enthusiastically supported Barack Obama's stimulus plan. He thought it should have been bigger. I think it was a disaster and a waste of money. Actually, Donald not only supported both of those, but he argued that Obamacare should be expanded to make it socialized medicine for everyone," Cruz explained.

Cruz refused to criticize Sarah Palin and her decision to endorse Trump, saying that he "wouldn't be in the Senate without her support." He said regardless of her 2016 decision, he "will remain a big, big fan of Sarah Palin's."

"And I do think the decision of who is a consistent conservative, who's the genuine conservative, that's a decision that's going to be made by the men and women of Iowa, by the men and women of New Hampshire and South Carolina and the states that are voting," he added.

With less than two weeks until the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses, Trump leads Cruz, 34.8 percent to 18.8 percent, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls. Cruz leads Trump in the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings.

Trump supported TARP, auto bailout and Porkulus bill, i.e., Trump is for big government and big businesses.

And, of course, he is for Renewable Fuel Standard (ethanol mandate), so governement can pick winners and losers.

Trump's Record on Free-market Issue: (from the Conservative Review)

Trump has a terrible record on free market issues. The only bright spot is the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing, but this glimmer is countermanded by his repeated support for bailing out Wall Street and the auto industry, and increased stimulus spending. Of particular concern is Trump's belief that the government can use eminent domain powers to seize private property in the name of private economic development. This comes as no surprise, given his support for using eminent domain to profit his own company.

Trump supported the Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in Kelo v. City of London, allowing public authorities to seize private land for economic development by private investors; Trump said, “I happen to agree with [the decision] 100 percent.” (National Review)  This is no surprise given Trump’s attempt to use eminent domain in his own line of work. (Institute for Justice)

Trump supported President Obama’s 2009 stimulus, saying: “The word stimulus is probably not used in its fullest…you know, certain of the things that were given weren't really stimulus. They were pork, as we call it, or they were gifts to certain people. But overall, I think he's [President Obama] doing very well. You do need stimulus and you do have to keep the banks alive.” (CNN

Trump supported TARP, saying, "You had to do something to shore up the banks, because ... you would have had a run on every bank." (CNN

Trump supported the 2008 auto bailout, saying, “I think the government should stand behind them 100 percent. You cannot lose the auto companies. They’re great. They make wonderful products.” He also said that the federal government could “easily save the companies.” (Daily Caller

Trump criticized the Federal Reserve’s intervention in the debt market, saying quantitative easing creates “phony numbers” that mislead the marketplace and “will not ultimately benefit the economy. The dollar will go down in value and inflation will start rearing its ugly head.” (CNBC

Donald Trump has a history of using eminent domain to complete business deals. Multiple times Trump has supported the use of government agencies to take possession of homes and businesses for use in his private business plans. Eminent domain seizures are reserved only for public use of property rather than abuse by the government taking property from one individual and giving to another. (Washington Post

Donald Trump has sought and received crony capitalist tax breaks for his commercial properties in New York. These tax breaks, and even an abatement, force the property taxes of other property owners to rise at the expense of the connected. Special treatment for one business or industry over another with the tax code conflicts with free market principles. (National Review

In 2009, Trump supported Barack Obama's call for limits on the pay of executives. (CNN)

Trump endorsed Marxist Bill de Blasio for NYC mayor in 2013 (my title)

"... Fred Dicker: What is it going to mean for Donald Trump to have Bill de Blasio as [New York City] Mayor?"

Donald Trump: "He's a smart guy that knows what's going on really big league and I think he is not going to want to destroy New York."

Voice Over: That was Donald Trump a little over two years ago, endorsing PC Socialist Bill de Blasio for New York Mayor.

Donald Trump: "I think pretty strongly that he'll end up being a good mayor, maybe a very good mayor."

Voice Over: De Blasio ran on class warfare, sanctuary cities and ending stop and frisk. De Blasio's sided with looters and cop killers against the police, with teachers unions against schoolchildren and with PC liberals to let the homeless run wild on city streets.

Donald Trump: "I think he is going to want to make New York great. ..."

America's First Openly Marxist Big City Mayor [Bill de Blasio]

Cliff Kincaid - November 5, 2013

Described by CNN as the "unabashed liberal," de Blasio is actually to the left of Barack Obama, in the sense that de Blasio didn't disavow his communist background once it came to light. At least Obama tried to cover up his ties to communist Frank Marshall Davis.

De Blasio had scrubbed the Marxist connections from his campaign website, an omission that momentarily captured the attention of The New York Times. But once these connections and controversies came to light, he embraced his sordid history. He still embraces [communist] liberation theology and his work for the communist Sandinistas in Nicaragua.

Nobody believed the purpose of his "honeymoon" to Cuba was actually a honeymoon, but the media didn't even bother to check into how he made the illegal trip and whether the FBI had developed a file on the candidate.

De Blasio was so open about his Marxism that on Sunday, he campaigned with Harry Belafonte, who during the Cold War sang at a "Concert for Peace" in communist East Germany, where he attacked President Reagan's anti-communist foreign policy. A long-time supporter of the Castro dictatorship, Belafonte was also an ally of the late Venezuelan Marxist ruler Hugo Chavez. ..."

-snip-

De Blasio can be expected to side with Soros and his "progressive base," rather than the police.

De Blasio can also do a lot of damage in the area of surveillance of potential Muslim terrorists. He made a campaign promise to a Muslim group that he would stop the practice of sending informants into mosques and Muslim student organizations.

Going further, if he moves to dismantle the NYPD's counter-terrorism programs, the city and nation could suffer through another 9/11.

Pamela Geller, a New Yorker, comments that the kind of journalism that we saw in the mayoral contest "is not just irresponsible; it endangers us all."

... Cruz can’t wait to cut a deal to pay of his Goldman Sachs and Citibank loans.
You can’t handle the truth. IT WAS A LEGAL SECURED - REPEAT SECURED LOAN.
Go peddle that to your buddies, along with your support of ethanol, the ridiculous BC issue, his ridiculous plan to spend billions deporting to “let them back” that he stated within days of his original deport them all, his bar room talk of 45% tariffs which although he lied about it at the debate he actually did say, and he is going to all by himself make Apple and Ford make their products in the USA.
He is running on a pack of lies.
REPEAT - HE TOOK OUT A SECURED LOAN. And you never have?

You might not like the way Ted framed this, but his facts are correct.

Trump is extremely vulnerable on this point, and Cruz now has an excuse for combing through Trump's previous Democrap positions on a multitude of issues.

Trump's comments over the past couple of weeks have been a gift for Cruz, leaving Ted as the last viable "outsider" candidate.

Is it really necessary to outright lie about Ted Cruz? You don’t have to like him, vote for him or go dancing with him but it would be nice if you could stop telling outright lies.

I thought those loans were paid.

On the other hand, some of the Donald’s business ventures went belly up...meaning his debts weren’t paid, or his creditors recouped a lot less than was borrowed. And who knows how many people lost jobs because of his failed business ventures?

And Trump supporters want him in charge of our tax dollars?

Kelly misses the point

trump will be about cutting deals with the Republicans.

Once the Republicans are secured, the Democrats can be ignored or beaten into submission
