Scarborough: For Anyone But Trump, ‘The Mainstream Media Would Have Called This Race’ [VIDEO]
Daily Caller ^ | 1/19/2016 | Steve Guest

Posted on 01/19/2016 9:00:30 PM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough said Tuesday that if any other candidate had the lead that Donald Trump has, "the mainstream media would have called this race over."

Scarborough told the panel that the race is coming down to "who can get the wild card berth for the playoffs. The fact is, Donald Trump is so far ahead in every one of these polls. Massively ahead."

Bloomberg's Mark Halperin interjected that Trump is the "number one seed."

"Let's just state the obvious," Scarborough said. Trump is "the number one seed. Number one, undefeated. Let's just state the obvious. If it were any other candidate but Donald Trump right now, the mainstream media would have called this race over." Halperin agreed.

Scarborough continued to say the establishment media would have said, "'It's a TKO. The fight is over.' Trump is destroying everybody outside of Iowa."

NBC's Willie Geist added, "And has been for six, seven, eight months now."

Geist said, "But you're right on that race for the wild card berth. If you look the New Hampshire poll in particular, it could be any one of a cluster of those people. You've got Jeb Bush and Chris Christie and Marco Rubio. There's a whole group there that hopes to hang around enough to steal that lane."

"Trump is trying to win Iowa," Halpin claimed. "He's there today with a big endorsement announcement. He's going back many times before the caucuses. He is not conceding Iowa."

I saw Wilson make that comment too, and thought it strange. Outrageous statements are often made by people hiding their own experiences.

"if any other candidate had the lead that Donald Trump has, "the mainstream media would have called this race over."

This is the main reason I support Trump.

Cruz is a true blue Conservative, yes, but he's still yet another vulnerable Republican when it comes to the media.

It doesn't matter how Conservative you are if the media destroys you.

Trump wouldn't allow that to happen. How do I know?

Watch the news. The media has tried to smear him. Nothing has worked.

He fights back and fights back HARD.

The whole plan was for Yeb to float along at around 20 percent through the primaries and gather delegates through all the proportional primaries. Splitters were thrown in to guarantee that Yeb would get his share and to prevent a movement candidate...that was the plan since 2014.

Everyone would be looking at Yeb as the presumptive nominee. Rubio wasn’t to get it. Kaisich wasn’t to get it, neither Christie or Graham or Pataki were to get it. Cruz was to be thrown to the dogs under this above plan.

There was one candidate they did not counter on and that was Donald J. Trump. Love him or hate him, he has disrupted the plans of the King Makers.

Everhyone can cry about Trump not being the conservative candidate. He isn’t...but he is the one that will cast the King makers out of our House, the White House. That is why Phyllis endorsed him, that’s why Palin endorsed him,... The conservative movement will ride along on Donald’s coat-tails this election and in 2020, will take a further grip on the helm as Trump leaves the levers of power to Constiutional Conservatives in 2024.

He ain’t perfect, far from it...but he is up to the task of cleaning out the stables, of upsetting the gravy train. Remember...if he wins, it will be his party, the republican party. He will get to dictate who, what and where...Get on aboard or get left behind people cause the Trump Train is leaving the station...

Hold your nose if you have too...Yup, he’s a scaliwag and scoundrel...

But, he loves his country and wants to do what is right...that uniquely American sense of fair play. rump is the only candidate that can, and will fight not only the democrats, but the GOPe and the media itself and win. No other.

Sen. Cruz is a nice guy but this time around its not for him...2024...America will be ready for him then, but not now...

anyway...my view from this neck of the woods. Good night and sleep tight FRiends

Scarborough’s point exactly: if situation was ANY other candidate, they’d be measuring the White House drapes.

Might be a good idea to wait until at least one vote is actually cast.

He's describing how the press handles and presents information. If Cruz had the poll popularity ove the past months, that Trump has had, the press would declare Cruz to be the presumptive nominee.

I don't think what Joe says is true, but what he saying is a remark about press conduct, not candidate conduct.

On the merits of Trump, I agree. But historically, see Santorum, Huckabee, Dean, etc. All "leading the polls," but nowhere close to being a serious contended by the time the nominating convention rolled around.

I think the press is just as overwhelmed and in a state of disbelief as the GOP is. Total denial, shock and confusion.

Scarborough: For Anyone But Trump, 'The Mainstream Media Would Have Called This Race'

This is so absurd . Not a single vote has been cast. Polls don't mean anything more than a general direction.

Better yet... When Cruz is leading in Iowa, Trump says the polls are inaccurate, but when Trump is leading he brags on the polls.

This is just silly.

Yeah, but when you look at the fact that NONE of those guys led in more than one state, let alone all but 2-3 (Utah, Wisconsin), and NEVER led from day one in every major poll, well, it’s mind-bogging.

Trump wins Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina then runs the table and wins all the states through March!

I'm a big Trump supporter, but I think the pressure to decide a race before it happens, and ESPECIALLY the enthronement of the MSM as an all-knowing ruler who can "call" a race before the votes are counted is disgusting.

I haven't had this much fun since 1968. Can't wait for Americans to start voting.
