Obama rebukes Alabama’s top judge: Gay ‘marriage’ is ‘here to stay’

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 18, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) -- President Obama says that marriage's redefinition "is here to stay."

Obama's comments, which he directed in part at Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, came in response to a question from YouTube creator and open lesbian Ingrid Nilsen, who asked "if progress in the LGBT community is not here to stay in certain states?"

"Oh, no, it's here to stay," said the president. “Understand that the Supreme Court has ruled that under the Constitution everybody in all 50 states has the right to marry the person they love. That's now the law of the land. The fact that an Alabama judge is resisting is just a temporary gesture by this judge that will be rapidly overturned. It violates what's called the supremacy clause – when the Constitution speaks, everybody has to abide by it, and state laws, and state judges, can't overturn it. So you shouldn't be worried about that.”

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court redefined marriage to include same-sex couples. However, Moore said the ruling does not have standing in his state because Alabama's marriage law is going to be ruled on by the state's Supreme Court later this year. That law was also upheld last March by the state's Supreme Court.

Marriage laws have typically been handled at the state level; many social conservatives said the Supreme Court's decision violated the U.S. Constitution by forcing all states to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Obama also said that "the process of changing people's attitudes, the process of treating the LGBT community with full equality and respect, making sure they're not discriminated [against] on the job, or in housing, or in things like that, those are areas where we've still got significant work to do."

"And for young people, making sure they're not bullied, that requires the participation of all of us. We're not there yet."

According to Obama, "amazing strides" have been made over the last two decades in changing how Americans view same-sex relationships. “The notion that you'd discriminate against someone because of sexual orientation is so out of sync with how most young people think – including young Republicans, young Democrats. … This is an issue that is going to be moving in the right direction as long as we stay vigilant and keep working on it.”

Dred Scott was here to stay — the Supreme Court decided.

Plessy v Ferguson was here to stay — the Supreme Court decided.

Prohibition was here to stay — we amended the Constitution: no alcohol. You just can’t change that.

REALITY: The the movie “Lawrence of Arabia”, Omar Shariff said that some things were impossible. It was foreordained by Allah. But TE Lawrence said: “Nothing is written.”

I guess Obama agrees with Omar Shariff. For some reason.

People everywhere need to forego the ACT at the courthouse and the $$ spent for the paper. Next year it would be funny if the ONLY people getting the license were lesbians and gays. The REST go to the Religion of their choice, and have the Pastor or Priest marry them before God. And register in our own civil way OUTSIDE of the view and grab of the State. Separate thus, State and Religion. THEY REALLY HAVE NO RIGHT TO FORCE CHURCHES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR CONCEPT OF GENDER AND WHICH GENDERS MARRY. It is up to personal religious choices. I am PRO CHOICE.

There is NO ‘LAW OF THE LAND’ that says perverts can marry each other. Show me the code chapter and verse. SCOTUS made it up out of whole cloth after they found it right after abortion. America is over with this type of perverted culture and leadership.

I do not have a problem with ‘gay marriage’.
Just like I do not have a problem with ‘unicorns’.
Because neither exist.

‘President Obama says that marriage’s redefinition “is here to stay”’.

At least he admits it IS a redefinition.......what word will be next? Murder? Pedophile? The slippery slope is here. Now.

Thank you for referencing that article wagglebee. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Noting that the state have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect LGBT issues like gay ”marriage,” please consider the following.

Given that Congress has always had constitutional authority to stop lawless Obama dead in his tracks but has stubbornly refused to do so, Congresss silence concerning Obamas gay ”marriage” statement means that corrupt Congress condones the idea that gay ”marriage” is here to stay imo.

And the reason that Congress is letting Obama call the shots concerning gay ”marriange” is that corrupt lawmakers want to keep their voting records clean in order to fool low-information voters into reelecting them. Congress probably does not want such voters to understand that Congress has no constitutional authority to legislatively address LGBT issues.

In other words, corrupt Congress is letting Obama do its unconstitutional legislative work for it.

Remember in November !

So if patriots elect Trump, or whatever conservative they elect, they will also need to elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to support the president while protecting 10th Amendment-protected state sovereignty.

In fact, note that such a Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.

When 5 out of 9 Supreme Court Justices can rewrite the Constitution to say whatever the hell that they want it to say then a different 5 out of 9 Supreme Court Justices can always rewrite it to say the exact opposite.

Four of the current Supreme Court Justices will be over 80 years old next year. Whoever replaces them will determine what the Constitution says for the next 30 years.

I suspect that in the mind of Obama, he is the wonderful
Abraham Lincoln of this era; just the guy to put those
pesky Jews in their place, to give EVERYONE their “rights”,
to squelch us “Christians” and remove our “rights”, to
elevate Muslims, reform those “unfair” prisons that have
“persecuted” his black brethren and deprived them of their
“right” to stampede, kill, steal and destroy. Delusions on
a grand scale.
