NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Rep. Peter King is calling out presidential candidate Ted Cruz amid controversy over the senator's comments on "New York values."
On Saturday, King tweeted that Ted Cruz was lying when he said he supports New York's firefighters and police.
"Not true," the Republican said, adding that Cruz did not co-sponsor or vote in favor of the Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act. King went on to call Cruz "a fraud."
@tedcruz can't tell truth. Says he fights 4 cops & firefighters. Not true. Didn't cosponsor or vote 4 Zadroga 9/11 health bill. What a fraud

Is it the NYC firefighters and police? Why is the Fed involved? They are city government employees, not federal.
The Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act was renewed as part of the 2015 year end spending bill which Cruz voted against.
Peter king is blowing hot air but technically he’s correct.

The issue was that King had promised to get Republican support for the nationalizing of the First Responder Union, and he couldn’t deliver.
Ah yes! The patented Cruz “Jedi mind trick”.
Pretty sure Cruz is not ‘caught flat-footed’. If he hasn’t war-gamed this birth thing out that’s on him, but my bet is he has.
There you have it. Peter King and Donald Trump. Peas in a pod.
How FR has sunk if anyone here can support the liberal Trump.
Peter King is a confirmed Cruz hater from the budget fight, so I’m not surprised he’s in tank as a ‘hit man’ to attack Cruz.
Cruz should vote for pork because New York City unions and Pete King want it? And because, 9/11...
Left or right, a vote is a vote. Cant argue with the FACTS, although you TRY to.

Mr. Do I Have an Excuse for You...

Exactly. “Excuses are crutches for weaklings.”
I wouldn’t vote for it either. Why should the U.S. taxpayers be on the hook for NYC employees? Don’t they already have health insurance?
I think the whole country is sick of politicians and ready to take a chance on a businessman who just might get the mess straightened out. Some, however, insist on clinging to political labels and bull headedness instead of trying someone who has the proven track record of knowing how to solve problems.
This bill should never have passed. Why are the American taxpayers being put on the hook for the bills of a NYC employee?
Don’t see any begging for money coming from Trump. I DO however see my e-mails flooded with CRUZ and HEIDI begging for bucks....usually starting at $35.00. They’re not even modest about it. Others ask for 5 or $10, but not the Cruz team.
Oh sure after a terrorist attack that killed firefighters and police, you think that helping the same groups are considered pork? You deserve Cruz....you both are shameful.
you honestly don’t think they were taken care of? the survivors were compensated beyond your dreams not counting the pensions from the city
:-)
Cruz should vote for pork because New York City unions and Pete King want it? And because, 9/11...
Cruz should vote for it because the firefighters and police who spent days and days protecting people in the two towers and cleaning up the death and mess that was result of terrorism. I understand that some of you are more on the side of the terrorists then the American citizen but this is the most shameful I have ever seen.
Not a Cruz fan really as much. But the fact is New York uses everything from 9/11 to Hurricane Sandy to grift as much as they can from the rest of the nation.
The 9/11 bill was a scam from one end to the other.
