Schumer: Trump 'right on the money' defending NY
The Hill ^ | January 17, 2016 | Peter Sullivan

Posted on 01/17/2016 5:32:50 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is slamming Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz for attacking “New York values" and praising GOP rival Donald Trump for defending his home state.

"I'm a Democrat, but Donald Trump did a very good job defending New York," Schumer told host John Catsimatidis on "The Cats Roundtable" on New York's AM-970 on Sunday.

"I'd like Ted Cruz to go talk about New York values to the firefighters who rushed to the towers on 9/11, and the police and EMTs, to the brave New York police officers who keep our streets safe," he added.

Schumer also noted that Cruz's wife worked for Goldman Sachs.

"Maybe he wants to go to Wall Street and talk about New York values, you know, where his wife worked," Schumer said.

After Cruz attacked Trump this week for representing "New York values," Trump defended himself at Thursday's GOP presidential debate by invoking the city's response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

"I think [Cruz] hurt himself and he deserved to, and Trump, gotta give him credit, was right on the money in his response," Schumer said.

Schumer also referred to a New York Daily News front page showing the Statue of Liberty giving Cruz the middle finger.

"He will be now forever on the front page of the Daily News memorialized, because they had the Statue of Liberty, and she made a gesture in Cruz's direction," Schumer said.

As for the Senate, Schumer touted the body's bipartisan work in December, including passage of a transportation bill. Schumer said the work would be a sign of a productive year ahead.

"I think things are going to be a little better in the next 12 months," he said.

You are such a pathetic tool.

Do you realize that Schumer and other NY liberals are only praising Trump to sow dissension and boost the other GOPe candidates chances in the race?

They don't give a rat's ass about Trump. They are only doing this to score cheap political points against conservatives.

Yeah, Trump is a liberal...so I'm going to rush into the arms of Christie, Rubio, or Jeb. ROFL

New York’s senior senator [Charles Schumer] said he had no intention of returning the $8,900 he has received from the GOP candidate in his career, nor would he support reimbursing the Queens-born mogul the $116,000 he showered on the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, which Mr. Schumer chaired from 2005 to 2009.

"Bottom line is, those were years and years ago. We ought to move forward," Mr. Schumer told the Observer when asked about the contributions at an unrelated press conference today.

Records show Mr. Trump's most recent contribution to Mr. Schumer was $4,000 in 2010. His last donation to the DSCC was $30,000 in 2008, during Mr. Schumer's tenure. - Dec 7, 2015

Harry Reid endorses Chuck Schumer to succeed him as Senate Democratic leader

"...Seemingly comfortable with his decision to not run for re-election, Reid said the liberal wing of the Democratic Party should have faith in Schumer, whose ties to Wall Street fueled his fundraising prowess and helped Democrats win the majority in 2006 and expand it to a super-majority in 2009. Those ties have some liberals questioning whether Schumer should lead the party, but Reid said that Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) would serve as the torch bearers for the populist wing and hold the caucus's feet to the fire."...

They’re jumping on Mr. Cruz for his comments but none of the Progressives who are “outraged” have ever had anything to say about their leader’s comments about the values of “flyover country”.

They’ve described non-Progressives as bumpkins, morons, knuckle-draggers, gun-lovers, bible-thumpers and low-I.Q. idiots, yet they continue to push policies that bring the country to the brink of disaster.

Amazing.

I have driven up and down the east coast more than a few times. I was recently very surprised to hear a conservative radio host and conservative listeners calling in to their shows as I drove around Boston once day. There are conservatives out there in the colonies.

Yes, Obama told the San Francisco crowd (with San Francisco values] those are the insecure little people who “cling to their bibles and guns.”

If this goes down the same way it is now headed, you may be in for bad news.

This country has already fallen for the ancient "Trojan Horse" routine...hundreds of thousands of ISIS recruits allowed to come in as "refugees".

Who are they kidding?

And who is paying for their transport?

Thanks. I got the tag line from someone else’s response to an article - he graciously permitted me to use it.

It has been very handy, cuts through all the chatter, and basically says “yea, I know he’s not the second coming of Reagan, but he can win and he will protect the country” which is enough for me - I’ll worry about abortion, Kelo, and gay marriage later.

Saves me a boatload of time typing - feel free to use it yourself too!

Yeah, McCain and Romney swept the floor with all those cross over votes...oh, wait...

Lol.
I posted this article last night and actually posted a comment to it and it disappeared with no reason listed. ??? title was Trump the Bully
little excerpt:
The best way to beat a trash-talking bully is to convincingly pretend you cannot hear him. Donald Trump, you have met your John Williams. - meaning Cruz.

We are doomed if conservatives can be fooled so easily.

Well, let's see what the Head FReeper has to say about your comments:

We can thank Trump for single-handedly taking out JEB, the media, the GOPe & their big donors and even setting the dems back a notch or two. And he has barely spent any money doing it while the corrupt GOPe and related PACs have wasted tens if not hundreds of millions trying to hold on to their power base. And I don’t feel humiliated a bit. Grateful that PC is being destroyed and the rules rewritten.

‘You are such a pathetic tool.’

No need for harsh criticism. This is a WEIRD primary because we now have a safe-borders, anti-ISIS candidate who knows how to work the ‘low information voter’.

When you gain support among low info-voters, you end up with the STRANGEST endorsements.

This is a new thing for us. It takes getting used to. And there is nothing ‘pathetic’ about being confused by this rollercoaster primary.

In addition, Trump is telling us how liberal republicans will make great VP’s.

Stop spreading misinformation. Trump never said that; a member of the audience asked him and he played along as all folks do at rallies.

“This is a non issue, and Trump knows that. Cruz was talking about the Commie mayor and that crowd and the political values of the people who vote them into office. He wasn’t dissing the kind of people who voted against them. Trump’s earlier statement with Russert explains this whole thread. And nobody is playing it. Trump really has changed since 2009... That is what Cruz was really referring to. But only Levin has played that truth and discussed it. If you are not catching Levin, you are missing something very special. What looks confusing becomes totally clear when Mark fills in the political gaps.”

Yeah. Some loud-mouthed radio host is going to make the clouds part and the meaning of the universe become clear.

And, actually, it’s kind of silly to say the N.Y. comment is a “non-issue.” You might WANT it to be a non-issue, by all rights it COULD have been an issue, but it is NOT a non-issue because clearly people are talking about it.

... and, once again, Trump completely sucks all the air out of the room and controls the narrative.
