Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is slamming Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz for attacking âNew York values" and praising GOP rival Donald Trump for defending his home state.
"I'm a Democrat, but Donald Trump did a very good job defending New York," Schumer told host John Catsimatidis on "The Cats Roundtable" on New York's AM-970 on Sunday.
"I'd like Ted Cruz to go talk about New York values to the firefighters who rushed to the towers on 9/11, and the police and EMTs, to the brave New York police officers who keep our streets safe," he added.
Schumer also noted that Cruz's wife worked for Goldman Sachs.
"Maybe he wants to go to Wall Street and talk about New York values, you know, where his wife worked," Schumer said.
After Cruz attacked Trump this week for representing "New York values," Trump defended himself at Thursday's GOP presidential debate by invoking the city's response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
"I think [Cruz] hurt himself and he deserved to, and Trump, gotta give him credit, was right on the money in his response," Schumer said.
Schumer also referred to a New York Daily News front page showing the Statue of Liberty giving Cruz the middle finger.
"He will be now forever on the front page of the Daily News memorialized, because they had the Statue of Liberty, and she made a gesture in Cruz's direction," Schumer said.
As for the Senate, Schumer touted the body's bipartisan work in December, including passage of a transportation bill. Schumer said the work would be a sign of a productive year ahead.
"I think things are going to be a little better in the next 12 months," he said.
"So, what am I going to do, contribute to Republicans? Am I going to contribute to, I mean, one thing I'm not stupid. Am I going to contribute to a Republican for my whole life when they get, they run against some Democrat. And the most they can get is one percent of the vote," he said, noting his "good relationship" with and donations to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Trump last donated to Schumer directly in 2010, though he had made donations ranging from $250 to $2,000 since 1996.
"I mean, I've contributed to Schumer, I contribute - I've known Schumer for many, many years. And I have a good relationship with him. The fact is, that I think it is time maybe that we all do get along," he told Hannity. - Source
The endorsements keep coming in...
Perhaps Trump can run for the Democrat nomination when Hillary is indicted.
yeah the last thing we want is to have people crossing over and voting for the Republican.
Keep digging.
Whine all you want, but Trump just took NY from Hillary two night ago.
I can understand why Schumer would be very happy with a president Trump, what I can’t understand is why anyone who calls them self a conservative would.
We are doomed if conservatives can be fooled so easily.
You might be on to something!
: )
2004 to Wolf Blitzer: ....”Well, you’d be shocked if I said that in many cases I probably identify more as a Democrat,” said Trump at the time. “It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans,” he added. In 2007, he said that Hillary would be a good person to negotiate with the Iranians since she’s “always surrounded herself with very good people.” He also said Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney would be good negotiators as well.
As for the Second Amendment, abortion, and health care, Mr. Trump was decidedly on the progressive side of things. Favoring a pro-choice position, a ban on assault weapons, and supportive universal health care.”

“Well, if I ever ran for office, I’d do better as a Democrat than as a Republican,” Donald Trump told Playboy in 1990. “And that’s not because I’d be more liberal, because I’m conservative. But the working guy would elect me. He likes me.”
“..These weren’t centrist or conservative Democrats, either. The recipients of Trumpâs largesse, as The Washington Post noted in 2011, made a veritable “Republican enemies list.” Besides Reid and Schumer, it included John Kerry, Charles Rangel, Edward M. Kennedy, and Hillary Clinton.
Trump gave over $100,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and to its Democratic counterpart over in the House. All during this time, he gave to Republicans, too-just not as much. According to F.E.C. records, Trump donated $1.3 million between 1989 and 2011, 54 percent of it going to Democrats. Since 2012, however, federal records show that Trump has given $463,450 to Republicans and only $3,500 to Democrats. Why the change in orientation? Trump himself is incoherent on this question, but a few theories spring to mind.
The first one can be called the Rachel Dolezal school of political identity: Trump is a Republican because, well, he just feels like being one for a while. This explanation is belied by how much affinity he expresses for Democrats. Trump donated $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel’s mayoral campaign, and as recently as three weeks ago he fawned over the mayor and one of his brothers, film actor-and Democratic Party fundraiser-Ari Emanuel.
“I gave him a contribution because his brother is a great friend of mine,” Trump said. “Ari, king of Hollywood. I love Ari. And Ari asked me to give him a contribution. I like Rahm very much.”...
“... [Hillary] wasn’t the only Democratic beneficiary of Trump’s wealth. Trump donated $5,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and $20,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in the 2006 cycle, effectively buoying the election prospects of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, respectively...”

...proving YET AGAIN that Trump has TREMENDOUS cross-over support.
I love it!
My objective Trump supporting bias sees another brilliant tactic by Trump. Whether intended or not, Trump has again broken new political gamesmanship ground, and left everyone in his wake scrambling to figure out what it all means.
In the meantime his poll numbers go up and those of his targeted opponent go down.
This is a non issue, and Trump knows that. Cruz was talking about the Commie mayor and that crowd and the political values of the people who vote them into office. He wasn’t dissing the kind of people who voted against them. Trump’s earlier statement with Russert explains this whole thread. And nobody is playing it. Trump really has changed since 2009... That is what Cruz was really referring to. But only Levin has played that truth and discussed it. If you are not catching Levin, you are missing something very special. What looks confusing becomes totally clear when Mark fills in the political gaps.
The last thing trump wants, or a real conservative would want, is the endorsement of chuckie.
Trump’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
You are correct.
Trump is going full bore, Democrat down and dirty.
He will build the wall, take care of vets, renew our military, challenge unfair trade, attack government largess, monitor mosques, destroy ISIS, protect US jobs...
Oh, but I forgot, hes not a card carrying “conservative.” And worst of all, he is from NY CITY! OMG!!
He’s going to get those people who were once defined as Reagan Democrats. This will annoy Cruz Bots and the GOPe. The rest of us will be delighted.
Naturally Up-Chuck Schumer would endorse Trump after receiving money from him in the past. Next, Hillary will endorse him and thank him for the campaign cash he gave her in the past. Democrats stick together. That’s part of those New York values that revolve around money.
Jan 7, 2016 - Chuck Schumer: “...Donald Trump is the only Republican candidate who says don’t cut Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security, he’s the only Republican candidate who’s against free trade,” Schumer explained. “He’s the only one who voices clearly this idea that ‘well if very wealthy people aren’t paying their fair share of taxes, they ought to.’”

So now we have Chuckie Schumer, the drive-by media, all the GOPe, Fox News and every important communist left-wing liberal they can find endorsing and singing praises of Trump. In addition, Trump is telling us how liberal republicans will make great VP’s.
I’m awake but I wonder about the rest of the conservatives.
Gotta hand it to Cruz — he woke up New York, and that’s good for America. For patriotism and conservatism.
Might not help Cruz, but it was downright statesmanlike of him.
And Trump had no choice but to remind everyone that New Yorkers woke up on 9-11. They have a very long way to go, but at least one New York fixture, Trump, had transformed from that day.
One man wakes them up and another instills pride.
Excellent!
Agree. Trump is aiding and abetting the Left. I’ve gone from being a Trump agnostic to an Trump atheist.
