9/11 widower invites Cruz to Ground Zero

A widower of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is inviting Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to Ground Zero in order to show him what "New York values" look like.

NYPD officer Jim Smith, husband of fallen police officer Moira Smith, sent the invitation in a Facebook post on Thursday after Cruz attacked Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump for embodying "New York values."

"I invite you to come to the National 9-11 Memorial and Museum and see for yourself, and perhaps learn something about, the values of New Yorkers and the Heroes who defended American values on September 11th, 2001," Smith said in the post, as first reported by the Daily Beast.

Trump responded in a similar fashion at Thursday night’s Republican primary debate, invoking the 9/11 attacks and calling the statement "very insulting" to New Yorkers.

At least they have stopped ignoring him.

Sounds like he wins.

Yeah Wall Street... To the bank where Ted’s wife works Goldman Sachs...

Ted REALLY blew this one... Too many connections to New York and the New York gay elite.

I went to the Dakota to see where John Lennon was murdered, does that count as witnessing the values of NYC? I kind of thought the rats in the subway was a better indication.

They can stop by the big building with Trumps name on it on their way to Wall Street. Its only a short distance away.

Oh wait, he has a building on WALL STREET.

Anyone confused might try to understand the meaning of the word "values" in the context of the average citizen in flyover country.

What New Yorkers are taking offense over, is a word that was not used or meant to be used.

That word is Character!

Ted Cruz did not insult the character of New Yorkers, nor was that the point or intent.

That is a created straw man argument and to pile on it like a heard of walruses is not only ridiculous, it's almost comical..

Yeah they left NY for a reason. Trouble is they are bringing the bad stuff here to Florida.

Everyone outside NYC knew what he meant, even Trump.

Hey newbie troll.

Do you ever post anything that doesn’t include that meeting Ted had with some New York queers?

Is that your whole reason and purpose here at FR; to solely post this SOS?

9/11 has absolutely ZIP to do with NY values.
You know what does?

And New York has been mocking and trivializing values in “flyover” country for decades.

Now, New Yorkers have a glass jaw and are offended? Have they gone to the safe spaces in Greenwich Village yet?

I lost friends that worked the commodity pits, as seen in ‘Trading Places’ on 9/11.

The liberal/Communist values that are shoved in the face of your TV, are NOT all ‘those NY values’.

Folks working hard, raising kids amid urban strife, trying to give their kids in the manner as parents before did them.

I knew this was a huge mistake. And what’s he going to do? Turn down an invite from the widower? And if he accepts, he’ll be hounded by the media.

This was a big mistake by Cruz. I have to wonder if it was a result of the push poll asking how to attack Trump.

This attack may go good in Iowa, but someone in the Cruz camp forgot that in the end, you will be in a national campaign.

Values are not regional, although many like to think they are.

Cruz has spent most of his time focusing on Iowa. I know he needs it, but Iowa is a killer for GOP candidates. You spend a ton of time there and you get screwed. They vote for a Rat.

It’s a widower - that means man in NYC lingo.

Is the widower a NYer? NJ lost over 700 people, I think.

Only an idiot would believe Cruz’’s comment was any kind of negative reference to 9/11.

He needs to view this as an opportunity for lots of free press... and he needs to double down and explain in great detail, repeatedly, for about two weeks exactly what makes NYC one of the most liberal places in this country.
