Poll: 20% of Dems would defect for Trump
The Hill ^ | 01/09/16 | Sarah Ferris

About 20 percent of likely Democratic voters say they would buck the party and vote for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in a general election, according to a new poll.

The willingness of some Democrats to change sides could be a major problem for Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton this fall.

The new figures were released by Mercury Analytics, a research company with clients that include MSNBC and Fox News, as the result of an online poll and dial-test of Trump's first campaign ad.

A smaller number of Republicans say they’d vote for Clinton - about 14 percent.

Ron Howard, the company's CEO and a Democrat, said he expected Trump’s first campaign ad to have "little impact - or in fact negative impact" on Democrats and independents. But the ad actually resonated with Democrats more than he expected.

About one-quarter of Democrats said they "agree completely" that the ad raises good points, with another 19 percent agreeing at least "somewhat."

"The challenge to Hillary, if Trump is the nominee and pivots to the center in the general election as a problem-solving, independent-minded, successful 'get it done' businessman is that Democrats will no longer be able to count on his personality and outrageous sound bites to disqualify him in the voters' minds," Howard said, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The company surveyed about 916 likely voters this week. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.

I read that he paid a number of people to show up for his announcement.
I wouldn't be surprised how many are on his payroll.
Would not put it past him.

We all do. It’s human nature. That doesn’t change the fact that people are ignoring how many democrats work to obstruct the republican primary and also routinely lie about “what they will do if..” People know how pre polling is used. There is no risk whatsoever in lying as a means of influence. The vote does not actually count. Same goes for pollsters. They have long ago figured out how to manipulate outcomes.

The media, too. Take for example what they did during the general election in 2000. They called Florida for Gore before the polls closed in the panhandle. They then called many states for Gore early while holding out as long as possible on the states trending Bush. Then they called the entire race for Gore. Many suppressed votes were the result. Florida panhandle voters may have not headed to the polls once they learned their guy had already lost. There are more conservatives there. On and on.

To not be suspicious is to be willfully blind.

And remember why the Reagan dims jumped ship. Ronald Reagan preached American exceptionalism and advocated military and economic invincibility.

I will always remember his "Shining city on the hill" speech because I hope that is what we were then and will become again.

In many areas and in our areas, the new buyers of guns has been women. Our local gun store, 8 days post San Bernardino, women were the main buyers, and their number one choice, pistols

None of our women folk over the age of 21 felt the need to buy guns. They know that, we have guns, and they know how to use them if they need to.

The gun owners in our families get asked often what guns do they recommend for home protection. Those asking these questions are non hunters, never owned a gun and are often democrats.

What % of new first time gun owners are/were democrats, you or I don’t know. If it is 5-10%, how many of those people will vote for a democrat, who will take away their guns?

Actually, There have been a number of allegations to that effect, though I do not see anything conclusive yet.

My feeling is this: The guy is a celebrity before he is a politician. People show up for celebrities. It therefore follows that not everyone at his events agrees with everything he has to say.

Something to keep in mind.

Dave, you are the king of anecdotal evidence, but I will humor this theory by asking you what state you live in.

Uhhh, maybe 10 years ago. Hell, maybe even 3 years ago. Not now.

I was at a gun show recently. The buyers weren’t whites. The buyers were blacks. And women. And other minorities. The white guys were there and were looking, but they weren’t doing the buying.

The culture is shifting right in front of us.

I suspect that was a video capture of someone hurling something, or shooting something at the train.

That wasn’t my focus. I did notice it before posting it.

I was more focused on the style and movement of the train, and decided not to make a connection to current dynamics of the Crewz campaign.

Just today Carl Paladino on Neil Cavato stated in his NY state space, that is 80 pc rats of that he saw 75% going to TRUMP. Hitlery fatigue is setting in. If TRUMP can take this state in a general -then more power to him.

Knowing that all should be based on fact, but in this instance the fact backed the feeling that TRUMP, in throwing his hat into the ring was the one good thing this country has seen in many, many, many years. REAGAN was great, but that did not last more than one administration. We need to GET BACK to OUR CONSTITUTION!!! That is of the utmost importance. It has been patched so badly by new laws that it is no more than a poorly made quilt.
GO TRUMP
GO CRUZ
We want the two of yous
to make a GREAT AMERICA for GREAT AMERICANS!

Never mind. I went to you tube and found out it was a pigeon, in a spectacular HD view!

So... is there a hidden meaning here, is the train Cruz, or the pigeon, and trump is the train? LOL, just kidding.

Now I'm wondering if either of you two understand what is meant by the term "anecdotal evidence."

For what its worth, I believe that the recent executive action on gun control will indeed help the Republican candidate in the upcoming election, but mostly due to increased turnout.

Okay, great. I wasn’t ducking the issue. I’m glad you were able to find and answer.

I hadn’t thought of a bird strike.

I know exactly what it is, and first hand anecdotal evidence beats the hell out of armchair speculation.

So have you been to a show in the last year? A gun store in an urban area? Did you look around? Have you done that for a space of years?

If so, let’s hear what you observed.

I would like to believe this but the phrase “as the result of an online poll” befuddles me. If it’s really an online poll is it in any way valid?
