Cruz continues to lead in Iowa polls, despite left wing Trump attacks
American Thinker ^ | 1/11/2016 | Rick Moran

Ted Cruz continues to lead in six out of the most recent eight polls coming out of Iowa (and tying in a seventh), despite blistering left-wing and birtherism attacks from Donald Trump. Polls reported in Real Clear Politics show him leading anywhere from two to ten points over Trump.

Trump has remarked that he has attracted much larger crowds than Ted Cruz, but so has Shamu the Killer Whale at Seaworld; it does not mean, however, that Shamu is going to win the GOP nomination for President. If the polls are correct, it must mean that many people who show up for Trump rallies are showing up solely for the entertainment value, not to vote for him.

Trump has attacked Cruz, mostly from the left, for failing to support the ethanol mandate and/or modifying his position calling for the mandate to be phased out over five years rather than immediately. Meanwhile Trump seems very proud of supporting this enormously harmful piece of corporate welfare, which raises the prices of both food and gasoline tremendously while lining the pockets of special interests, in this case giant agri-business. This is the kind of policy supported by the GOP crony capitalists in Washington DC.

Something to ponder... Just how many in those large Trump crowds will show come caucus day???

Every election cycle I see the same things. One such thing is the reporting on crowd sizes and how it's presumed to be an indication of support. Proclamations of candidate X crowd sizes and how much bigger they are than candidate Y's are all the buzz. Candidate X supporters have their hopes boosted while candidate Y's must see this as a sign for worry. All great stuff until election day and candidate X gets his arse handed to him. I doesn't always happen, but it often does. No telling how it might turn out this time. Whatever happens, it'll be interesting to watch.

Again I'll note - using Rush again to make a point - Rush says don't worry, Donald is no liberal. Ignore his recent past (no matter how recent). Rush has played a few rounds of golf with the man - so Rush knows him.

I don't know but Trump continues to come at Cruz from the left. What's that say about his instincts? Personally I don't think it necessarily means that Donald is still a closet liberal (even though he very well may be). That may be giving the Donald too much credit. It's just as likely he doesn't have any core convictions and is simply just a weathervane and opportunist.

An average lead of 2.8pts is a statistical tie. In summary, Trump ahead in 49 states, tied in 1. And who were the last two “winners” in Iowa?

Something to ponder on the Trump vs. Cruz Front:

Who would you prefer to pick then next 2 or 3 Supreme Court Justices?

Easy choice for me: Cruz.

At least Trump doesn’t flip-flop on his statist policies.

“What’s that say about his instincts? “

It says Trump knows how to win. Listen, Cruz is my #2 choice and he is a great debater and talker. But when it comes to getting the job done, Trump is far ahead. Whatever it takes.

“What’s that say about his instincts?”

It says that he is someone who wants to win. That is the kind of fight I want in a presidential candidate.

Trump is saying NOTHING that Ted Cruz has already admitted to or is on record (being born in Canada). He simply took the wind out of the sails of the Dem’s October surprise.

Trump is not spreading lies or rumors about Cruz. He’s not saying that he beats his wife or cheats on his taxes. He is trying to win a campaign, and right now, Cruz is in his way. He’s not going to sit back and just let Cruz overcome him, despite what some Freepers here hope he would.

In the overall vote Trump is beating Cruz in Iowa's latest poll.

The Jan 10th with registered Iowa caucus goers NBC/Marist poll, Trump leads Cruz 26% to 24%.

NBC/Marist/WSJ registered voters see page 6 pdf

Trump will win Iowa by getting new Iowa caucus voters.

This is a different election cycle. Different electorate and different candidates. I will not guess how it ends but am ready to get a nominee so we can all unite behind him and win. I want summer to get here fast.

Great to see that sanity still exists, at least in parts of the country. These are very serious times we’re living in today. The last thing we need is another clown in the White House.

Perhaps he should emulate McCain, who told us we had nothing to fear from an Obama presidency.

Whatever it takes...

Say anything... Do anything...

Once upon a time, opportunistic, say anything, do anything to get elected type were automatically disqualified in conservative circles. My how times change. With this new and improved thinking, perhaps the next time Charlie Crist runs for office, we shouldn't just discount him out of hand...

TPA is the greatest corporate welfare program voted on by Congress this year, and Cruz was for it. Price to be paid in American jobs and wages. The establishment, globalist tribe certainly preys upon those who only see the ‘our guy’ image of religiosity.

Exactly. While the Cruz supporters continue to rehash the same old tired arguments that Trump is a liberal, it is they who act like liberals, constantly moaning and whining everyday that Trump is mean and not playing fair. They want Ted to get his participation trophy and nobody to keep score. Trump is playing to win. Ted talks a good game but is short on any significant accomplishments. And as for citizenship, legally, Ted has or had 3 separate citizenships. Canadian, Cuban and American. The same crew who constantly complains that Trump has no principles seems to have sold out their own because in their minds “Ted votes the right way”. If the Cruzers are ok with this then more power to them. Many Americans are not.

TRUMP: Vladimir Putin's praise is 'a great honor'

Business Insider ^ | December 17, 2015 | By Maxwell Tani

Republican US presidential front-runner Donald Trump is apparently "honored" that Russian President Vladimir Putin considers the real-estate magnate a "flamboyant" and "very talented" man.

"It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond," Trump said in a statement, according to Politico.

He continued: "I have always felt that Russia and the United States should be able to work well with each other towards defeating terrorism and restoring world peace, not to mention trade and all of the other benefits derived from mutual respect."
