The first shots exploded around 9:40 p.m.
On Sept. 11, 2012, a group of local fighters, AK-47s in hand, burst through the fortified front gate of a US outpost in Benghazi, Libya.
One very long night later, the diplomatic compound was engulfed in flames and a covert CIA base a mile away lay in ruins, partially reduced to rubble by mortar fire. Four Americans were dead, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens and two CIA members.
What happened in between is covered in â13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi,â a new film from âTransformersâ director Michael Bay in theaters Friday.
The movie suggests that F-16s or gunships could have been scrambled from Europe, though a congressional committee determined none were available to make it in time.
The men who were there disagree.
The U.S. Consulate the day after the attack. Paranto said the firefight wasnât the worst heâs been in, but it was definitely the longest.
A lot of politicians donât realize that we were all in the military and we know a lot of the military guys, and they tell us things, Tiegen says. One pilot said to us that [the government] was afraid of another âBlack Hawk Downâ scenario.
Though the men now suffer from post-traumatic stress (they refuse to term it a âdisorderâ), they say the movie makes them miss their other life and want to return to Libya.
Itâs enjoyable, Tiegen says. Weâre over there whacking terrorists so they canât come over here.
Youâre your best person when youâre over [there]. Youâre willing to give your life for someone, Paronto says. And you miss the brotherhood. Everythingâs dull when you get back to the

Aired this morning - lots of good facts:
Rescue Interruped (Sharyl Attkisson - Full Measure) http://fullmeasure.news/news/politics/rescue-interrupted
Full Measure investigates new information about what may be the most confounding mystery surrounding the Benghazi controversy: Why no outside US military help came to the rescue as terrorists battered two compounds and the Americans inside over nearly eight long hours.
IIRC, Obama told ???? to do whatever you want and disappeared.
“...what may be the most confounding mystery surrounding the Benghazi controversy: Why no outside US military help came to the rescue...”
Is it really a mystery? A terrorist attack did not fit into the Obama re-election narrative.
What are the lives of some embassy personnel and a few soldiers compared to the all-important narrative?
The fog of war candidate hillary clinton
Don’t think any soldiers were actually there, only CIA and State dept contractors. All working on the weapons to Syria smuggling project.
We now know the answer to th ad ‘who will answer the phone when it rings at 3 am?’
No one.
This administration has done all it could to favor muzlyms and to disfavor Christians and Jews. No surprise that it allowed Americans to die so as to not annoy its best buddies.
A terrorist attack did not fit into the Obama re-election narrative.

It was more complicated than that. They let them all die to cover up a gun running operation. Links if you’d care to explore more:

POMPEO: There was an e-mail that was from Mr. Blumenthal and (inaudible) before that, also discussing the same situation. Do you know who Mark Turrey (ph) is?
CLINTON: No, I don’t recall that I know who that is.
POMPEO: He was a private trafficker in weapons. He was working with Mr. Stevens and attempting to develop an authorization with the State Department so that he could in fact deliver those weapons into Libya. Does that — any of that ring a bell to you?
CLINTON: No, it does not.
POMPEO: So you never saw the e-mail that was from Mr. Stevens to — I think it went to Mr. Sullivan, where he says to Mr. Turrey (ph), this is Mr. Stevens now, says to Mr. Turrey (ph): “Thank you for this information” — this information about his attempts to get authority to ship arms into Libya. He says, “Thank you for this information. I’ll keep it in mind and share it with my colleagues in Washington. Regards, Chris.” Actually, “regards, Chris Stevens.”
CLINTON: I — I don’t know anything about that specifically. I do know that you’re referring to a document, and if you are, could you tell us what tab it’s at?
POMPEO: Yes, ma’am. I’m not certain it’s in there as a tab, but I’m happy to provide it to you.
Yes, they were left to die for political expediency.
You are so WRONG.
A voice recording announces, “All our operators are busy helping other people. Please hold for the next operator” Remember, you are a subject of this administration and your call is very important to us. Thank you for holding.”

Nope!...but a staged hostage swap did....Do your own DD
A point frequently overlooked.
Granted, some effort should have been made to aid American citizens abroad, but they were not active duty ‘soldiers’
You forgot the part where they had to press 1 for English.
Just like at Perl Harbor, and Wake Island, and all the places the Japanese attacked in the first days of WWII.
They were working for the US government, and went into harms way to help protect a US ambassador. ‘Some’ effort isn’t good enough. All out effort should be expected. There is absolutely no excuse for the way this was handled. Even the best case scenarios are blatantly unacceptable.
I agree completely.
However, the reason why this was not done and why there is still a cover-up is because of the reason WHY those people where there to begin with. There are many people on all sides who do not want us to talk about that.

Won't be for long at the rate we're going.
They'll get their wish for whacking terrorists again, and more power to them.
