KEENE, N.H. - For months, former president Bill Clinton has largely stayed out of the 2016 race, mentioned mostly in passing by Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.
Now, following days of attacks over his sexual history from Republican front-runner Donald Trump, Clinton is escalating his public involvement in his wife's campaign. On Monday, he headed out for his first solo campaign events with stops planned in New Hampshire, a key primary state that gave much-needed momentum to his struggling 1992 presidential bid.
But some of the less desirable moments of his past - his impeachment and decades-old sex scandals - are also re-emerging as he prepares to campaign in the Granite State.
So far, Bill Clinton has remained mum about the accusations - following the lead of his wife's campaign which believes their candidate comes across as more presidential by rising above what they see as Trump's crass political tactics.
But the attacks seem to have struck a nerve.

Unfortunately, this seems to say way more about America and Americans than anything else. If we don’t get this election right we’re finished as a nation. Hopefully, enough people are waking up.
“Rising above” only works if everybody else decides to let you get away with it and pretend that the problem is beneath discussion.
That strategy has worked in the past — Republicans and Media alike decided that if Bill wanted to ignore the issue, they would do the same.
But there’s a new sheriff in town. These unsavory issues are going to be talked about. A lot.
And “rising above” is a loser’s game at this point.
They failed to mention that freeper Katherine Prudhomme, who "heckled" Hillary The Liar, also "heckled" Al Gore about Bill's "rapins".
That got Prudhomme an audit from Clinton's IRS. Betcha Hillary knew all about that.
So, Lisa Lerer and Ken Thomas go on The List of spear-catching Clinton Media shills.
Ken Thomas lives in the DC area, so we can see he wants to remain on the list for the annual White House press barbecue, and all those yummie free drinks & food.

Clinton has always been overrated. He never had any competition. Bush? Dole?

Hellery is just one year younger than Lecher Bill. If people see the walking / talking cadaver on stage, I think they will begin associating her with being a cadaver, too. Her health and drinking problems are legion. The emails recently exposed disclosed that she falls asleep in critical meetings and can’t be found for long time stretches. I think these will emerge as serious issues in the upcoming primaries.
The whole Dem side is a bunch of near-cadavers.
Trump is proving that one person can drive the narrative and public opinion despite the 24/7 attacks. Not everyone can do it, but he’s in a position to execute it. Nearly flawlessly, I might add. The timidity of the failed GOP over the past 15 years is being exposed.
Can you imagine if Jebbie Bush was the frontrunner? Bill Clinton would be all over the place on his grand comeback tour, knowing full well that Jebbie would never dare say a discouraging word.
Donald Trump has ruined Bill Clinton's much anticipated return to the limelight before it even had a chance to begin.

He said he didn't know what it would be or how it would happen, but he believed that something would happen to alter the course of events.
I think we are witnessing that force/event.
