Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Wednesday blasted Ted Cruz after a POLITICO report quoted the Texas senator telling a donor that fighting gay marriage wouldn't be a "top-three priority" for his administration.
"Conservatives are being asked to 'coalesce' around yet another corporately-funded candidate that says something very different at a big donor fundraiser in Manhattan than at a church in Marshalltown," Huckabee said in a statement released by his campaign Wednesday afternoon. "Shouldn't a candidate be expected to have authenticity and consistency, instead of having to look at a map to decide what to believe and what to say?"
Cruz's stance, expressed privately to a group of moderate Republican donors in New York earlier this month, seems to contradict his public statements. In June, for example, he told NPR that gay marriage opposition would be "front and center" in his campaign. But in July, he rejected a Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, insisting marriage is a state issue.

Wasn’t Huckabee about to drop out a few days ago? What’s the hold up?
Is Politico paying people to share this non-story? I have seen it posted everywhere today.
He is such a big fat phony. Can’t stand this @ss-clown.
And I slam Huckabee for still being in the race. Drop out Huck, and go write a book.
The Huckster!
“Conservatives are being asked to ‘coalesce’ around yet another corporately-funded candidate that says something very different at a big donor fundraiser in Manhattan than at a church in Marshalltown,” Huckabee said in a statement released by his campaign Wednesday afternoon. “Shouldn’t a candidate be expected to have authenticity and consistency, instead of having to look at a map to decide what to believe and what to say?”
Huckabee is about to camp out in Iowa nipping at Cruz.
Methinks Huckabee is looking for a piece of the Trump action.
Huck, NEVER trust Politico.
Read what Cruz actually said before putting your mouth in motion!
This was not among his top three because adherence to the Constitution WAS! Marriage is NOT a Federal concern. 10th Amendment reserves it to the States.
Cruz simply wants to deal with it in the proper, Constitutional way.
I have yet to see/hear this secret tape. Does it even exist?
Huck’s job in the primaries, as always, was to peel away evangelicals, splitting the conservatives and easing the way for the GOPe pick.
He sees Cruz recent “secretly recorded” comments as his big chance.
He’s a buffoon.
Hey Huck, look at the scoreboard
Fighting gay marriage has pretty much already been lost. The only thing that will change this is a change in the Supreme Court. Unless Huck is intending to knock off certain members of SCOTUS, then no, it isn’t a top three priority.
Immigration - Economy - ISIS... in no particular order.
Once those are on the way, then there’s a whole bunch of other tasks to undo the damage of the past 3 Presidents.
Yup.
Its a dead story everywhere but in the fevered minds of leftists and a few trollish FReepers.
With all the crap going on this country, from the runaway spending, to the growing intrusion of Muslims, to the threat of militant Islam, and on and on and on... I would agree. I have trouble seeing gay marriage as something I’d put in my top 3.
Huck obsessed with Cruz. Meanwhile, Cruz might say “Mike who?”
This OBESE GRIFTER needs to fade into the woodwork. He’ll never again have the power to raise taxes and release serious felons from prison early...all the while falsely claiming to be a conservative.
I read an article on FR that a PAC for Huckabee is running ads against Cruz in Iowa during January and I heard Huckabee say he would be living in Iowa the month of January.
If Huckabee had any chance at all, I could see him doing that but he does not have a change in hell to win in Iowa. If Huckabee ever has a program in the future on Fox, I will never watch it.
