X-ray vision, a comic book fantasy for decades, is becoming a reality in a US lab.
A group of researchers led by Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Dina Katabi has developed software that uses variations in radio signals to recognize human silhouettes through walls and track their movements.
Researchers say the technology will be able to help health care providers and families keep closer tabs on toddlers and the elderly, and it could be a new strategic tool for law enforcement and the military.
"Think of it just like cameras, except that it's not a camera," said Fadel Adib, a researcher on the MIT team developing the device.

Don’t think this is anything new. Remember talking to an old Kodak guy way back in 1988.

Yep, I remember those ads for x-ray glasses. A lot of them featured a guy leering at a shapely female figure outlined beneath a girl’s dress. Of course I’m sure no guys bought them for that purpose.
To: Blood of Tyrants
It’s too much, who wants to live in glass houses? Wonder if metal siding would be impervious to its effects?

There’s already been court decisions against the police using infrared without a warrant.

I always wondered, did those things actually work? My mom would never let me order them.

No, not really - the joke was the reaction of nubile young girls when you threatened to ‘put on your X-Ray specs’ with a leer and a smirk, lol

Ok I looked into this more. It relies on MOVEMENT of a human to determine position and speed, and to those who say that standing still will help, they are increasing the sensitivity to detect movement during breathing. So this will be useless against object detection.
To defeat the system, since it uses WiFi, you simply need to turn off your wireless router and/or shield your walls against 2.5 and 5 gHz EM radiation. usconservative will know something about how.

I'm gettin' tired of these freaks who have to know everything everybody's doing. Eliminating freedoms under the guise of preventing terrorism is wrong, as is sticking their bureaucratic nose into everything and sundry.
Eliminating those imported elements of society who are known to cause problems would go a long way to quell such activity. The left won't like it, the brown scumbags seem to be their constituency, I'd like to know how many vote. Life should be like Vermont carry--pack what piece you want, when you want, and we'll only bother you if you screw up.

I'm thinking that's gonna have to be some pretty powerful 2.4 - 5.x EM radiation that's "not gonna be a camera, but will be like a camera."
Not putting that thing up to my face, that's for damn' sure.
As for how to "block" it ..... RF reflecting or absorption material should work, and lots of it.
