TED CRUZ MAKES HUGE LEAP, now just FOUR points away from Trump in new poll!!!

Ted Cruz is going to wake up to an early Christmas gift from the polling elves at Quinnipiac University, as their new results show him making a YUGE leap in popularity to gain on the front-runner Trump. For his part, he increased by one point as well.

Donald Trump’s perch atop the 2016 presidential polls is looking a little shakier this morning.

In the latest Quinnipiac University national survey released Tuesday, Trump leads Texas Sen. Ted Cruz by just four percentage points.

Trump’s share remained essentially unchanged from the university’s last poll, ticking up one point to 28 percent. Cruz, meanwhile, shot up eight percentage points to 24 percent.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio finished third with 12 percent, a five-point drop since late November, while retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson continued his downward spiral with 10 percent, a six-point hit in the same period. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie registered 6 percent, his highest level of support in a telephone poll since late May. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush took 4 percent, while all other candidates earned 2 percent or less and 8 percent remained undecided. Of those who named a candidate, 58 percent of Republican voters said they might change their mind before voting in their state’s primary.

Cruz commanded pluralities of support over Trump among those describing themselves as members of the tea party (38 percent to 27 percent) and white, born-again Evangelical Christians (33 percent to 22 percent). Cruz also led Trump among very conservative supporters (38 percent to 27 percent), while Trump led at least nominally in every other demographic polled.

But it’s close. Among men, for example, Cruz trails Trump 30 percent to 29 percent, while among those with a college degree, he trails 24 percent to 21 percent.

In other results, it looks like Cruz does best in a head-to-head competition with Hillary, but he finishes even:

...."In the three years he’s been a senator he’s done anything of note except talk about conservatism."......

"President Reagan was initially loathed by the GOP establishment because he primaried Gerald Ford in 1976..... Reagan refused establishment GOP appeals to drop out in order to “unite the party." .... Reagan, Cruz says, changed Congress and changed Washington because he "took his case to the American people,".

Cruz has applied this same strategy by taking it to the people....yet has been time and again "silenced" over and over by the media who has been controlled by both sides of the aisle who have opposed Cruz.

"Make DC listen"....."The Stop Iran Deal"...."The marches to Washington to stop Obamacare" and others CRUZ HAS LED were time and again given hardly any coverage....certainly barely a whisper of Cruz.

And these not to mention Cruz time and again 'blocking bad legislation' from going through Congress or we'd be surely in worst shape then we are now.....That’s what we elected the GOP to do in 2010, 2012 and 2014......and as is said LIMITING GOVERNMENT 'is a win' in the cause of limited government.

And should we mention the cases he's won before the Supreme court!

All the polls cannot be ‘outliers.’

The MSM sponsored polls are set-ups for Trump, since he is their guy in this primary race.

They put all their chips on him, and they will support him until the primary is over.

>> “A ginned up poll to show Cruz close to Trump nationally.” <<

.
Who is going to do the ginning?

The media are solidly supporting Trump, so why would they put the only guy they fear as a threat to him?

Makes no sense.

Will Cruz round up these refugees and send them back? Immigration is the only issue I care about - secure the border and deport all illegals including their kids and families. Until that happens, nothing else matters.

You actually believe Trump will do this? Good luck with that.

Cruz and Trump have opposing goals.

Cruse supports freedom and the constitution, while Trump supports stronger, and bigger government, and has promised to ignore the constitution if it gets in his way.

Your posts are full of nonsense and falsehood.

Cruz is the sole candidate in this race that is solidly qualified. Trump is among the very least qualified, down there with Carson and Fiorina.

Bush can’t get 30%

Only Cruz is capable of exceeding 50%

Trump is locked below 37%

Cruz is getting contributions from Christian Democrats of all races.

Only the unions resist Cruz.

But union members that are gun people will be behind Cruz in the general election.

Reuters has Trump 36.7%, Cruz 11%, so much for that gain.

Trump can’t even get close to winning the nomination. He has a 64% negative ceiling holding him down.

He is bumping into that ceiling right now.

Usual suspects: “Any poll that shows a Trump lead of less than 20 points is MSM BS”.

Well an open statement like that is hard to understand, since it is so broad it will never be wrong, but also not convincing, either.

The first assignment that President Donald Trump should hand to Vice President Ted Cruz is heading a task force to determine who rest of Trump’s fantasyland cabinet should be. I’m thinking he can’t go wrong with Rambo as Secretary of Defense and John Wayne as Secretary of State. But they will save a ton of taxpayers money on Vice President Cruz’s task force, since it will only take place in the minds of Trump supporters.

Mr. Trump was at 39 percent in the Fox News poll conducted Dec. 16-17, with Mr. Cruz next at 18 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida at 11 percent

Reuters (Trump 37- Cruz 11- Dr Ben 11- el Rubio 8)

we can go back and forth with posts and polls this way and that... regardless, right now that poll with Cruz to me is clearly and outlier.

over 60 percent of republicans believe Trump IS the nominee. But I do think Cruz could pull it off... I think he will be VP and have said so for a while. Trump may be a one term... and Cruz may be 2 term, but I don't think he will win the nomination.

THAT is my OPINION... btw I see no black people at Hillary meetings. I see plenty of them with Trump meetings... and some with Cruz as well.

If the dems don't get over 90 percent of the black vote... I don't think they can win.

Like Rubio he got into politics in high school and like Rubio he has been in local, state and now national politics. On the national stage for less than three years. He stands no chance of being elected president. I like Cruz, but he needs some national exposure and accomplishments before he runs for president. The exact same thing for Rubio. To hell with politicians. Politicians got us in the mess were in now and the only one who is not bought and paid for is Donald Trump. I think one day he could become president, but it’ll be after the corrupt system is cleaned up and he’s not the one to do it. He’s very good and in a perfect world could run and win, but no democrat is voting for Ted Cruz. Rubio, who I’m not a fan of, would have a better chance in a general election.

This is typical. Your posts demonstrate that you really don’t know Ted Cruz’s career.

Ted Cruz was in local and state politics? Prior to the Senate, can you name ONE election in which he was a candidate? (Hint: None. He had an appointment to Solicitor General, but that is a legal role in an administration, not an elected position. For reference, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is a similarly appointed role. Would you say that is a political position?)

You say he has only been on the national stage for three years. Incorrect. As a lawyer, he has been involved in many national cases, including Heller! Personally, I view involvement in the Heller case as more impressive conservative credentials as being involved in a reality television show.

The funny thing is that you, too, have bought into the line that he is “unelectable.” The same line the liberal media created for Reagan. You like him, but think he can’t win. I think Trump will actually have trouble winning, and if he does, I will by you a steak dinner if, after four years, the people of FreeRepublic aren’t clamoring about “being betrayed” and “disappointed by how liberal he really turned out to be.”

So, pick your candidate based on who the media tells you can win. Or, pick - and support - a candidate who will actually be conservative. Your choice.

I like Ted Cruz. No need to badmouth me. I just don’t think he can win a general election right now. He needs to go in as someone’s VP, preferably Trump’s. Hell if Trump served for eight years Cruz would still only be 53 years old, perfect age for a first term president. And enough of this about Reagan. Reagan had served eight long years as governor of California, had ran for president before and was a well known conservative figure in the party. He carried 49 out of 50 states in 1984. That means that as many democrats voted for him as republican. You think for a minute Cruz or any other republican will do that again, I don’t. Reagan was a once in a lifetime candidate, who appealed to everyone.
And Reagan 30 years ago didn’t have a Fox News going after him, trying to ruin him, the way they do Trump and will certainly do Cruz if they think he’s near the nomination. They’re in the tank for a New World Order establishment puppet like Rubio, Bush and the rest.
