I am acquainted with Christian missionaries who served in Kenya. These people did yeoman’s work there. That could be the basis.

Also, a couple years ago when that shopping mall was attacked in Nairobi by Somali muslims, a few young muslim men fought back to protect non muslim women and children.

This is taken from a Wikipedia story about the attack. Going by the names, the two brothers were muslims.
