"The USA Freedom Act has not made us less safe at all."
Republican Sen. Mike Lee on Wednesday slammed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for attacking Texas Sen. Ted Cruz over the USA Freedom Act at Tuesday night's GOP debate.
Lee, who along with Cruz sponsored the bill that halted the National Security Agency's bulk collection of phone metadata, said Rubio was wrong to say the bill made America less safe.
"Look, Marco Rubio has been attacking Ted Cruz on the USA Freedom Act, for his vote in favor of the USA Freedom Act, and he's been doing so by suggesting that this has somehow made America less safe," Lee said on Boston Herald Radio. "It simply is not true, and look, I'm really good friends with both of these guys, I really like both of them, but Marco's wrong on this."
"He's just dead wrong," he added, emphatically.
Cruz and Rubio clashed in a heated exchange at Tuesday's Republican debate with the Florida senator arguing Cruz's votes and advocacy for the bill weakened America's defenses.
"The USA Freedom Act has not made us less safe at all," continued Lee, saying he talked with the FBI director who said the program did not impair looking into the records of the San Bernardino terror suspects.
Take a listen:
Mike Lee is a national treasure. Okay I stole that from Mark Levin, who said it only a few minutes ago. Still true.
Thanks! Never see this on the MSM.
Rubio was just out and out lying to cause disruption and questions in order to take away from his own failures.
Then the establishment wonders why people are not supporting their candidates, people have had enough of the lies.. At least on the right anyway, it seems the left are quite happy to get lied to and vote for a woman who has been caught lying, under investigation, and did nothing while Americans died.
I heard that too and was surprised, since Mike Lee is one of those wanting to loosen the mandatory minimum sentencing laws and go back to the time when liberal judges gave violent felons a slap on the wrist.
And we have a bunch more liberal judges appointed by Obama.
Levin doesn’t write people off over one issue. Mike Lee gets 100% over at Conservative Review. I think it is 100%. It is an A anyway.
That’s a big issue though, and one I’d think would be important to Mark.
I don’t know. I’m just telling you what I do know.

Nonsense!
Nuff trolling.

MUDDOG is one of those people that *Know* things that simply are not so.
Lee is a good guy
The tools at FOX disagree....
"What's the biggest domestic public policy success of the last two generations? In our view, it's the plummeting crime rate that began with a changed approach to crime in the Reagan years.
"The new approach had two major components -- proactive policing and mandatory minimum sentencing that set floors below which judges cannot go in sentencing serious offenders...
"Now, a group of senators from both parties proposes to slash many of the mandatory minimum sentences for federal crimes. Their legislation, the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act of 2015, is sponsored by the usual suspects -- Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Lindsey Graham -- but also by some unusual ones, notably Charles Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Mike Lee..."
Thanks for the info. Here is what I was talking about: https://www.conservativereview.com/members/mike-lee/
I like Mike Lee a lot. I just think he’s wrong on this issue.
.
Many minimum sentence guidelines are just plain insane, especially in the area of the crime-causing “war on drugs.”
Why should crack need a stiffer sentence than powder coke?
Can it be because a massive percentage of lawyers, judges and congresscritters are hooked on the powder?
.
Yeah for Mike Lee and the truth!
That’s gotta sting, Rubio!
“Mike Lee is a national treasure.”
Yes he is and the RINOs do not like him.
