On Monday night’s radio program, Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin called out Donald Trump for mimicking the statists and the Republican establishment by attacking rival Ted Cruz and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia over the weekend.
Listen:
Listen to the audio at the link.
Levin cited three “reckless comments” made by Donald Trump.
First, Mr. Trump joined in with a leftist on CNN to dump on Justice Scalia, who’s comments during oral argument have been unfairly accused of being racist. Conservatives know better.
Second, Levin said that Mr. Trump’s insinuation that Ted Cruz is bought and paid for by Texas oil companies because he opposes ethanol was “stupid.” Ethanol subsidies are a “typical, big-government, Stalinist program” and conservatives know better than to criticize a candidate who opposes government waste. Announcing your support for ethanol subsidies because you’re campaigning in Iowa is pandering.
Thirdly, Levin declared that Mr. Trump sided with the Republican establishment when he called Sen. Cruz a “maniac” for refusing to go along with the Washington establishment in the Senate. Isn’t Mr. Trump himself running an anti-establishment campaign? Why would he adopt Establishment talking points to attack another conservative?
Levin went on to say that running a populist campaign by abandoning conservative principles is nothing more than liberalism. If Mr. Trump is a conservative, he should not be attacking another conservative from the left.
Maybe he can appoint his abortion backing sister huh? That will be conservative to a Romneybot I guess.
How does the nation defend itself?
Mark Levin is an “icon” ... pretty fair, damned smart ...
Where Levin stands, good grief have a word with yourself.
I want either Trump or Cruz, but if Trump is going to act like this and attack Cruz,Scalia etc then he can forget our vote here.
.
I like Donald Trump, admire the hell out of him ...
Trump simply stepped on his #### in his criticism of Ted Cruz and Scalia ...
.
Hey, if he can want to block Muslims that he said were fine people (well but now he acknowledges that terrorism isn’t so fine) then there is hope.
Seriously. You have to understand something more about Donald than you can see through thickest cynicism, to even be able to begin to understand what is going on with Donald. You aren’t even batting in that league. You are the meaningless pot shot meister.
He needs to call Levin and Rush last night
exactly.
Would you prefer I used the term “mandate”?
Can you prove either of those slurs against Levin?
Thanks for stating exactly how I feel and saving me the trouble.
I don’t listen to much talk radio but Levin happens to intersect fairly regularly with some of my drive time, so I hear him a bit. He has been a big Trump backer. I guess he is relearning the ancient lesson that populist loose cannon, firing indiscriminately against whatever ad hoc target surfaces today, will eventually fire the wrong way.
First of all, TPP, which has not been voted on yet, has never been supported by Cruz and he will vote “No” when it comes up for vote.
Cruz responded to the concerns about H1-B Visas with legislation that he and Session wrote together.
His 16% flat tax on businesses replaces the much higher payroll and corporate taxes.
I listen to his words. The ones you devoted wish away. You all can stand at the Pillars of Styro and hope for change. I’ll stand as always on principle. CONSERVATIVE, not CANCERvative principle.
You all did it with Romney and drove the party left. Now you openly dropped the pretense that you want a conservative and have begun attacking the actual conservative in the race.
Thats a fact. Deal with it. Or not. I don’t care. You have to live in the world your actions create.
Obviously I have that tagline for people like you who don’t know the difference between an enumerated power and ones that aren’t. That one is actually an enumerated power. Where’s the one that says the Federal Government is supposed to save a failing business? You’re a conservative, right? Tell me again how it’s a power of the government to take taxpayer money and give it to private business. You know, like ethanol?
He may have called Rush privately. Normally if Trump were dubbed “Donald McCain,” there’d be tweets on the subject. Trump’s silence may indicate outreach. We’ll know when Rush comes on the air. If he’s conciliatory, there was likely contact. If he doubles down, it’s far less likely.
He’s probably going to survive that in the long run.
Scalia — it depends on exactly WHAT about Scalia he didn’t like. Scalia isn’t some 100% perfect plaster saint and I can easily think of things about Scalia that aren’t right. People are taking things way too personally, IMHO. Having to defend some figure to the hilt rather than engaging in balanced critique.
What seems to say more is what Trump DID say was right, and that was Clarence Thomas. We could do a whale of a lot worse than to have a USSC that looked like Clarence Thomas. He’s stayed pretty firmly conservative/libertarian.
“Levin has never had an original thought his material is mostly stolen from Rush and his persona is stolen from Savage
Trump is going to make America great again and I believe it wholeheartedly.”
Do you recall when Rush would refer to “F. Lee Levin?” Levin started a legal foundation with the sole purpose of defending the constitution. Therefore, it’s probably not accurate to say he’s never had an original thought.
What has trump DONE to make you believe him wholeheartedly? Because he built an empire for himself? I know he has people working for him and politicians on his payroll, but it’s his named blazed all over it.
You answer me and blast me with a “you all”?
Shows just how critically YOU think. You are big with criticism, small with critical thinking.
Ain’t that the truth!
