A former chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party says Donald Trump should not be on the Republican presidential primary ballot on Feb. 9 because the GOP frontrunner has not proven he is a registered Republican and has expressed views âinconsistentâ with the state and national partyâs platform and by laws.
In his usual, understated fashion, Trumpâs campaign manager Corey Lewandowski responded by saying that if this move were approved, âMr. Trumpâs supporters would probably riot in the streets of New Hampshire.â
Normally Iâd shrug off a comment like that as typical campaign rhetoric, but in this case itâs probably much closer to reality than hyperbole. Just this weekend I had a conversation with one family in Nashua who Iâve gotten to know quite well through my various trips there and I could easily picture them looking around for some pitchforks and torches. These are people who are heavily involved in the state legislature battleground and really have their finger on the pulse of the GOP community up there. Iâm here to tell you that they are All Trump All The Time.
The most common words I hear associated with the real estate tycoon in these conversations are fight and fighter. The dire nature of the situation with ISIS and the very real and present threat to America posed by radical Islamic terror has people paying attention and they are looking for somebody who is ready to fight. Itâs a very H.L. Mencken atmosphere in some quarters of New Hampshire and Trumpâs appeal seems to be that heâs the guy who is ready to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

The base will be very upset if this is done.
Livid is a better description
How much was this guy paid by Yeb! ???
Some one needs to find a horse’s head in their bed.
Just the Jeb-crowd at work.
Not a wise move by the political class hacks...or at least by this specific political class hack.
Democrats are ordering popcorn by the trainload as the republican establishment makes asses of themselves.
There are also 2 challenges to Ted Cruz on the eligibility question, both in NH.
Wonder who is paying these guys to make these challenges. I’ll bet the GOPe.
The GOPe continues to marginalize itself. Can you envision the Dems intentionally alienating their base?
Someone post this schmuck’s phone number or email address so we can give him some friendly advise of where he can stick his head.
As much as I despise and distrust Trump this is just WRONG on any number of levels.
It could not be more clear. The GOPe would rather have Hillary than Cruz or Trump.
Write in’s allowed? They try that BS and they will feel the wrath...
One way or another, they want to make sure he doesn’t win eight primaries. They want an open convention and to shove Jebra down our throats there.
Agreed. Watch as 30% of the Pubbie base walks away......
As apposed to those in the democrat/rino communist uniparty, who would rather surrender.
Yeah, if something makes no sense there is usually a bribe behind it.
How did Bernie ‘prove’ he’s a Democrat?
If the eGOP does not allow the primaries to run their course, potentially even selecting Trump, then Trump runs independent and Hillary wins.
It.Is.That.Damn.Simple.
