A Facebook group criticizing the Staten Island Mall for canceling its Christmas tree-lighting ceremony and Santa parade has attracted tens of thousands of followers, energizing debate about the loss of holiday traditions.
The mall later apologized, announcing it would host a holiday celebration on Dec. 4 featuring Santa, a tree lighting and a toy drive.
"We heard the disappointment in your shopper feedback regarding the cancellation of the annual Santa Parade.
At Staten Island Mall, we pride ourselves on being a community partner and take our shoppers' sentiments to heart -- good and bad," mall officials said in a statement.

Obama's Christmas tree graced by Chairman Mao
12/22/2009
The face of China's Mao Zedong, blamed for the deaths of 50 to 80 million of his countrymen, graces an ornament on the White House Christmas tree for President Obama's first holiday season in residence.
According to BigGovernment.com, the tree also features an ornament adding Obama to Mount Rushmore. ..."
Stupid is as stupid does.
There are plenty of retail options out there.
“Joe DeMarco, an entrepreneur and community activist in his 50s, says he created the Facebook group ‘Boycott Staten Island Mall This Christmas Season’ over his frustrations that various Christmas presentations at the mall have been neglected and removed.
Through the years, the Santa Claus display was shifted out of the mall’s main court and a popular Christmas train ride disappeared. The Christmas tree was moved outside last year.
For the 2015 Christmas season, the mall’s tree lighting, as well as Santa’s arrival parade — which DeMarco had been attending since the early 1980s — were canceled.
‘It became apparent that the mall management was systematically removing anything related to Christmas from the mall,’ DeMarco said.”
Nice little dig with the “good and bad”. We know where these anti-Christ editors are.
Pray America wakes
Bump
BTT. Keep CHRISTMAS in your heart and celebrate the whole year through !
There was this other that I left out of the excerpt:
"They sure take their Christmas seriously."
I cannot for the life of me understand the logic that malls use to determine that it’s best to cater to a tiny minority who might be upset at Christmas decorations being up at the expense of the overwhelming majority who object to Christmas decorations being down.
Hey, it’s their mall. They make the rules. I’m glad they got the message.
Even people who aren't religious enjoy the displays and decorations, as well as the overall feeling of the Christmas season.
“”We heard the disappointment in your shopper feedback...”
IOW we saw the dollar signs starting to disappear.
On a somewhat related note, there's a mall in Queens NY where I live which rents space to a Vietnam Veterans group that raises money to donate to children's hospitals. The group puts on a fantastic hot rod and classics car show in the mall's parking lot. One member of the group told me the mall, with mostly caters to 'trendy' yuppie types, is trying to cancel the shows.
Each year the scene is like one from the 50s or 60s, with many regular middle class Americans and their families enjoying the event, which includes a live oldies band. The puzzling thing is, the neighborhood is anything but Yuppy Town. It's one of the last great neighborhoods left in NYC. Very patriotic, lots of vets. So I don't get why they put a mall filled with dopey yuppy-type shops and restaurants there.
The left has caused people to have to consider political calculus in every day life where they never even had to consider it before.
So now, businesses who want the most people possible to frequent their stores have to determine how many people will be so offended they will not shop there if they celebrate Christmas vs. how many people will be so offended they will not shop there if they cancel Christmas celebrations
Sounds like the reason all these stores got in business in the first place, right?
Maybe because Yuppies spend more money?

For Our Conservative Friends:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
This is Staten Island the only halfway conservative part of NYC. The dopes who run the mall should have known better than to try this shiite
The yuppies don't live anywhere near there. It's located smack dab in the middle of a largely conservative middle class neighborhood, with no convenient public transportation or nearby highways. I think the mall is actually on the verge of bankruptcy.
Why do these mall’s even do this knowing they’re going to get protests.....so ridiculous, leave Christmas alone already.......
