A new campaign is underway by Republican establishment operatives to take out Donald Trump and ensure he's not the candidate of choice for the GOP - and the billionaire front-runner has taken to Twitter to call out the lead player as a "wacko" with few funding friends.
Trump described the operation this way on Twitter over the weekend: "A woman who got fired after two days of working with Scott Walker - a wacko - now trying to raise funds to fight me."
He was referring to Liz Mair, a brief former campaign worker for Walker's presidential push, who's now heading up Trump Card LLC. The Wall Street Journal reported on a memo that included Mair's expressed concern of "the stark reality is that unless something dramatic and unconventional is done, Trump will be the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton will become president."
Trump's also firing a warning shot at the Republican National Committee about the effort to harm his candidacy, referencing the Journal's article and tagging the RNC's official Twitter account, @GOP, in his complaint.
"@WSJ reports that @GOP getting ready to treat me unfairly--big spending planned against me," Trump tweeted. "That wasn't the deal!"
In September, Trump signed a pledge not to run as an independent. He said at the time he was given the "assurance that I would be treated fairly" by RNC chairman Reince Priebus in return for agreeing to the "deal."

I don’t expect it...I know that will happen.
When it happens I think the political establishment will be shocked to see the conservative voters making placards, signs, bumper stickers, window stickers and every type of home made political hardware and printed matter supporting Trump.
In addition to that, you will see local chapters of whatever his political party will be named being established.
I think this next election will go down in history as the most important event in American History other than the Revolutionary War.
Instead of fighting the English, we are fighting Socialists, Communists, Marxists, Muslims and a whole host of freedom killing maladies infecting our liberties today.
We have already watched our government trample our First Amendment rights in free speech and freedom of expression. Historical statues, flags, and other historically politically incorrect physical signs of our history are being taken down or destroyed by an edict issued by public courts, places of higher education and of all levels, just like the early days of Russia.
I never thought that I would live long enough to see the day that America would become Amerika.
... Scared to death that if you vote for someone or anyone who has a chance to reverse our full charged run to Socialism it will cause the GOPe to lose votes...
Funny, don’t recall saying whom I would vote for?
History has an uncanny way of repeating itself.
“It takes time.”
We don’t have any more time. Time has run out.
The year 2016 will either be the death of the country we once knew or it will be resurrection of our country.
ONE WILL OCCUR as sure as the sum rises in the morning.
I disagree on this. There is always the convention, the bribery and intimidation of the delegates which leads to a brokered convention and backroom deals to bypass the national will. It has been done before. It is still a key play in the political playbook.
If the GOP comes in against any outsider candidate, but especially Trump, Cruz, Carson, or Fiornia, then I will withdraw my support. I don’t support Carson or Fiorina, but I will fight any effort to install an establishment candidate.

I just wanna win, I’m tired of communist rule.
I have noticed that Trump and Cruz seldom disagree on any major issues. They each move in ways that don’t cause the other any problems. Could it be that Trump is playing the part of a ‘stalking horse’ for Cruz? Could he be taking all the slings and arrows rather than Cruz? Could it be that the GOPe will torpedo his candidacy only to have him throw his support to Cruz at the last moment?
I don’t know but this whole campaign is definitely different than any I’ve witnessed in my 81 years. Pray for the best but prepare for Hillary.
“The Republican Party wanted the Democrats to win the 2008 election and the Republican Party wanted Obama to win re-election in 2012. “
At least you figured it out, sport Many FReepers STILL haven’t.
>>And, if he runs 3rd party, it will deny the GOPe the Presidency. Historically, 3rd party candidates have not won either. We would have 4-8 years of Hell with Hillary. That wonât be pretty.
You seem to still believe in the old Republican vs Democrat paradigm. That is an artifact of an earlier era when the US political and corporatist classes were not committed to the Progressive ideal of a new-feudalist future.
To the GOPe, a Hillary win is still a win for the “fundamental transformation” that Obama promised the Elites.
It is now us vs them. Progressives of any party are the enemy of freedom.
This campaign is in fact rather bizarre. Yes.
The best scenario would be the “stalking horse” concept.
I think the democrabs have a candidate waiting in the wings. Bernie cant win and they have to know that. Hillary cant win and they know that. She’s far too damaged and in very ill health.

Hard to disagree regarding backroom deals, with a person of your name. But we both know that it won’t go over very well if they try.
