U.S. presidential candidate Ben Carson recommended praying for rival Donald Trump after the real-estate mogul and television personality, in a 95-minute rant in Iowa, likened him to a child molester, Carson's business manager said on Friday.
"When I spoke with Dr. Carson about this yesterday how we should respond, you know he was so sad about it. He said: "Pray for him." He feels sorry for him because he really likes Mr. Trump," Armstrong Williams, who often acts as Carson's surrogate in the media, told CNN.
"To see him just imploding before our very eyes - it's just sad to watch," Williams said.
Speaking in Iowa on Thursday evening, Trump, a leading contender for the Republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election, cast doubt on Carson's oft-reported story of lunging at someone with a hunting knife as a child, an episode Carson says led him to his Christian faith.
A retired neurosurgeon, Carson has emerged as the main challenger to Trump's top position in national polls and popularity in early deciding states. A Reuters/Ipsos poll this month found 31 percent of Republicans favored Trump. Carson followed at 18 percent.
"Give me a break," Trump said in his Thursday speech, where he also lashed out at other Republican candidates and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. "How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe that crap?"
He said the incident showed Carson had a "pathological" temper.
"If you're pathological, there's no cure for that," Trump said. "If you're a child molester, there's no cure. They can't stop you."
Carson has said his intended stabbing victim's belt buckle blocked his knife, a detail Trump singled out in his rant.

The story here is that Ben Carson said he met Westmoreland at the ROTC banquet on Memorial Day in 1969. Actually, Westmoreland was in Washington DC on Memorial Day, 1969, as Army records clearly show.
That means Ben Carson may well have lied about ever even meeting Westmoreland.
I understand that Carson's campaign is now trying to backpedal a bit and say that it may have been in February that Westmoreland and Carson met. But yet, Carson's book make a very oddly specific claim that they met *at a banquet* and *on Memorial Day in 1969.* That is hard to fuzzy down to "we probably met in February."
The problem with Carson is that whenever the details of his life's story start to be questioned, he suddenly gets oddly obfuscatory and non-specific.
That's...problematic in a presidential candidate.
This has nothing to do with "did Carson get offered a scholarship to West Point." That's not even an issue in what I'm talking about here. It has no relevance. The issue is quite a bit bigger - and more open to genuine fact-checking.
-— However, I think we need a fighter for the next President. Our country right now is so destroyed that having a nice guy is not going to cut it -—
We may need a fighter and Carson may be too nice, but that doesn’t change the fact that Trump appears to be unstable.
Ben Carson - the safe space candidate?
RE: In Carson’s book: âAmerica the Beautifulâ âHe said that on November 4, 2015 he changed to Republican. He was an Independent in the 1990âs..In Feb 2013 he said he was not a member of any political partyâ
I fail to see what the problem with that is....
Ronald Reagan was a Democrat before he became a Republican. So?
Welcome back to the discussion by the way. I thought you said you were dropping out.
The really moronic part, is that the guy who called for the increase in H-1B visas has now done a flip-flop, just what his followers were trying to destroy another candidate for doing.
Remember, they can’t trust anything that candidate says now, because he is a flip-flopper.
If they are true to their core beliefs, there goes the “former” H-1B increase advocate.
But you know that isn’t going to happen. They’ll still say they can’t believe the other flip-flopper.
My flip flopper is better than your flip-flopper.
Saying you’re againt TPP and then voting for TPA to support it..., just remember, their guy isn’t a flip-flopper.
LMAO
LOL, oops... you nailed it.
= :^)
Oh No....Trump is my man 100% and defend him I will, but with facts.....
Well, using this latest imbroglio as an example, what appears to be the consensus here on FR?
It looks like Trump covered himself in crap and didn't even lay a hand on the Doctor. And that's here, at FR, where Trump has strong support.
Last week's manufactured outrage and accusations made the Doctor stronger. The MSM are gnashing their collective teeth trying to insult the guy.
And they did no damage.
And the Dr's counterpunch?
Pray for him!
I don't even support the guy for Pres. but that's pure genius right there.
RE: he never implied Carson was a child molester but in my opinion if you tried to murder innocent people(which that wack job Carson admitted to doing) you are just about as bad
St. Paul not only tried to murder by INCITED A CROWD to murder St. Stephen. That makes him bad even after his conversion?
St. Peter cut off the ears of Malchus in the garden of Gethsemane and was rebuked by Jesus for doing so. What does that make him? A bad and unredeemable man?
RE: Oh No....Trump is my man 100% and defend him I will, but with facts.....
OK, let’s get back to the original discussion. Show me with facts where Ben Carson lied in regards to his “scholarship” to West Point and his anger issues as a teenager.
“All’s fair in love and war.” WE ARE at WAR! I love the no holds barred and off with the gloves atmosphere. It is beginning to look like America again, not the politically correct slimy bog we’ve been trapped in for far too long. Whatever works shou,ld be employed full strength.
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

At best, that shows a FAULTY RECOLLECTION of an event that happened almost 50 years ago.
What about the other years? 1968? 1970?, 1967? Was Westmoreland ever in Detroit then?
No he didnât. Trump used child molesters as an example of another illness that canât be cured. Like pathological disease.
<><><><><
And of all the pathological disorders out there, he just coincidentally pick the one every human recoils in disgust from?
C’mon, McGruff. You are fully aware (as your post reflects) of how low information voters get their ‘facts’ and how they make their ‘informed’ decisions.
And you know as well as I do that the choice of his example was fully intentional and packaged for those low information voters.
Sorry, I believe you are too intelligent to actually buy the story you are now trying to sell.
I’m not here to pump up Carson...Carson said these things in books that he has written...if you need more facts, then go buy the books and find out, that’s what normal people do, I did it, I gave you facts, and yet you don’t want to accept the fact that Carson isn’t what he wants you to think he is....
Do the research yourself...I did....
Tell you what! YOU pray while I whoop and holler and celebrate someone having the guts to FIGHT for this country! We need Trump, not another too nice guy. Tried that last time and lost.
There is also this from 4 1/2 years ago...

EDIT TO ADD, David French, a former US marine states thusly:
But when you keep reading his book, you see that the Pentagon acknowledges that it “certainly is possible” that Westmoreland talked with Carson, but the event Carson describes — a dinner featuring Medal of Honor winners — likely occurred in February and not around Memorial Day.
So Carson properly described the event, but — five decades later â got the month wrong. That’s a story?
Since I had the privilege of serving with true heroes, I loathe “stolen valor” or any other false claims of military service, but — like you — I simply don’t see Carson’s account in this light.
At the risk of repeating a piece that will shortly be posted over at the home page, his story is plausible because I experienced something similar. Many years ago I was “offered” an ROTC scholarship before I even applied. After speaking with officers familiar with my academic record, they told me I would receive a full academic scholarship, that the application was a mere formality. My teenage self certainly took their statements as an “offer,” and I wouldn’t have fill out the application forms without their word. Unlike Carson, however, I filled out the forms and received the formal offer (which I rejected for a better scholarship from a different source.) So, when did I receive my offer? The lawyerly answer is when I received the formal letter. The real-life answer is when a colonel told me the scholarship was mine for the taking.
Where did Trump compare him to a child molester?! Watch and listen to Trump’s speech. He absolutely did nothing of the sort. Carson’s lies? Surely you jest. Carson’s past appears to be as much a fabrication was Obama’s. You give them both a pass? Why? Because they are black?
“Carson is done...he has shown himself, by his comments and in his books that he is a patholocial lia...”
No. The liberal media is trying to make us think that. Don’t fall in to their trap.
There are policy reasons to not vote for Carson, but this typical distortion and smear approach of the left is not one.
