U.S. presidential candidate Ben Carson recommended praying for rival Donald Trump after the real-estate mogul and television personality, in a 95-minute rant in Iowa, likened him to a child molester, Carson's business manager said on Friday.
"When I spoke with Dr. Carson about this yesterday how we should respond, you know he was so sad about it. He said: "Pray for him." He feels sorry for him because he really likes Mr. Trump," Armstrong Williams, who often acts as Carson's surrogate in the media, told CNN.
"To see him just imploding before our very eyes - it's just sad to watch," Williams said.
Speaking in Iowa on Thursday evening, Trump, a leading contender for the Republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election, cast doubt on Carson's oft-reported story of lunging at someone with a hunting knife as a child, an episode Carson says led him to his Christian faith.
A retired neurosurgeon, Carson has emerged as the main challenger to Trump's top position in national polls and popularity in early deciding states. A Reuters/Ipsos poll this month found 31 percent of Republicans favored Trump. Carson followed at 18 percent.
"Give me a break," Trump said in his Thursday speech, where he also lashed out at other Republican candidates and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. "How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe that crap?"
He said the incident showed Carson had a "pathological" temper.
"If you're pathological, there's no cure for that," Trump said. "If you're a child molester, there's no cure. They can't stop you."
Carson has said his intended stabbing victim's belt buckle blocked his knife, a detail Trump singled out in his rant.

But yes to Trumpâs insults?
I see the article left out where Trump grabbed his own belt, flopping his pants up and down, and asked if anyone with a knife wanted to come up and test if a buckle could stop the blade...utterly bizarre behavior...
We used to be, but now we're told we have to be nice and we cannot insult people who live in a safe zone. Trophies for all, no more bullying, no accountablility, everything is OK, celebrate deviancy or your a phobic something, embrace reparations or you're a racist, sheesh. Yhe world is upside down, finally we have a candidate who will speak to it.
The Establishment is in PANIC MODE!!! Hence, this article....
They know Trump is going to win, and now they are trying to bring back the loser Mitt Romney. I guess they know Rubio and Carson will not last.
Go to Drudge Right now. Itâs the top center story.
What? Is that what he's going to say if ISIS attacks us? This guy is about as committal as Bill Clinton.
That's one of the silliest posts that I've read today. What do you want Carson to do, bomb Trump. Good Lord!
You would think Trump has called for a 500 percent increase in H1-B visas. Now that would be moronic.
Or, for millions to “come out of the shadows” so we can reward them with RPT status. LOL.
Trump used child molesters as an example of another illness that can't be cured. He didn't go any farther than that. But don't bother to read past headlines.
“I was hoping for a Trump/Cruz ticket. Now Iâd rather see Cruz/Carson, Cruz/Paul, Cruz/Fiorina, Cruz anybody but Trump. Iâd even take Jeb over Trump now.”
I checked your previous posts. You never have been for Trump.
You are dishonest.
“Here in FR we once called Trump’s antics “character assassination.” “
And you know what the Democrats called it in 2008 and 2012?
Kicking our a$$ and winning easy.
Get out on your bike and go for a ride...You will see things a little clearer afterwards
There are bridges too far, and Trump crossed one. That’s not being a “fighter.” That’s liberal-style character assassination.
“He likened Carson to a child molester”
No he didn’t. Trump used child molesters as an example of another illness that can’t be cured. Like pathological disease.
Kicking our a$$ and winning easy because we had crappy candidates for a plethora of reasons besides refusing to jump in the mud. It's one thing to fight in the mud on issues... it's another to resort to defamation.
Trump is utterly classless at pretty much every level.
He is lashing out because his lead in the polls has narrowed and in some cases disappeared. Now he is resorting to comparing his opponents to child molesters and insinuated the people of Iowa are idiots for not giving pollsters the results he wants.
I think the Carson response is appropriate - “pray for him”. Trumpmania will die on the vine, and a lot of his supporters are going to need prayers too. They are so emotionally invested in Trump that when “the Donald” fades and fails to win the nomination they are going to lash out. Trump’s campaign has been ugly, and what is coming for his followers is going to be even uglier. So yes, pray.
“He likened Carson to a child molester”
No, he likened his condition to a child molester
“...and also denied that God is miraculous and can change people.”
Never brought up the concept.

Carson’s campaign manager says that Carson was introduced to “folks from West Point by his ROTC supervisors. . . . They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC.”
What, exactly, is the story here? If it’s simply that he should have described military officials’ expressions of enthusiasm with more precision, then this is truly a tempest in a teapot.
His account, in fact, resonates with my own experience. Many years ago I was âofferedâ an ROTC scholarship before I even applied. After speaking with officers familiar with my academic record, they told me I would receive a full academic scholarship, and that the application was a mere formality. My teenage self certainly took their statements as an “offer,” and I wouldn’t have applied without their word. (I filled out the forms and was formally accepted, but declined in favor of a better scholarship elsewhere.)
At the same time, CNN’s effort to call into question Carson’s story about his childhood anger issues is both weak and malicious. The network interviewed ten people from his neighborhood about 50-year-old incidents that Carson claims they never witnessed, and now peddle a story raising doubts about claims in Carson’s biography. What? Is it now the case that CNN can interview ten people about decades-old life events that didn’t happen to them and now breathlessly proclaim a “scoop.”
Why do you like Ben Carson who is just another Democrat in Disguise? He is PRO AMNESTY, HIGHLY questionable on the 2nd Amendment, AGREES with Al Sharpton and favors Farrakhan just for starters. It is inconceivable to me that he could even be considered for the presidency. he has ABSOLUTELY NO qualifications for such a job....yet people give him so much respect because he speaks softly?
Gimme a break!
If the Left Wing media claims he lied, he lied, even if he has since proven he didn’t lie. - All Trump Fanbois
It's been my experience that the guy to be most wary of isn't the braggart but the quiet guy.
He's not going to say anything, but when he's had enough, he'll open up hell.
I’m almost afraid of a Cruz win because his supporters seem to what him to run a milquetoast campaign consisting of getting clobbered and him just asking everyone to pray for Hillary.
Hate to break it to them, but Cruz is either going to have to be just as sharp and tough or he will be demolished by a leftist machine that will actually accuse him of rape and wont care if his supporters pitch a fit online.
Excellent response by Dr. Carson. Lashing out at an attack is easy. Not allowing oneself to stoop down to the gutter level of the attack is much more difficult. Carson didn’t ignore it, but responded in a dignified manner.
Carson’s not my guy, but his handling of the most recent attempts at smears impresses me. As an evangelical who’s been attacked for my beliefs, I can identify.
