A historical first?
Tonight's debates on Fox Business should be notable for a number of reasons:
-snip-
And finally there's this bit of trivia: To the best of my knowledge, tonight will mark the first time a Brit has moderated a GOP presidential debate. The Brit in question is Gerard Baker.
I suspect that a lot of people who know Baker from his role as editor of the Wall Street Journal will be surprised when they hear his accent tonight. I've known Gerry since he first started writing for THE WEEKLY STANDARD and two things occur to me about his role tonight.
First, he's the most Americanized Brit I've ever met.

With that dolt, Priebus, in charge, I’m surprised Whoopie Goldberg isn’t moderating the GOP debates. There are far too many debates and so far they have done pitifully litte to educate voters.
Maybe the candidates should announce in their opening statements they will only answer questions from moderators that are American citizens.
The Weekly Standard is really pimping this guy.
Easy. He's pro amnesty and anti-Trump. But I guess that's self evident since he's from the Wall Street Journal.
I hope Trump calls him out for his ALIEN foreign status
I don’t know, but I have a feeling this debate will be another colossal waste of time — no better than the last three. And that isn’t good for people like my aunt who have no other sources for their info other than radio, TV or newspapers. How are they supposed to make informed choices on Election Day?
All of these publications are for amnesty, and have been for years. Fred OPEN BORDERS Barnes & Co?
Open borders FOX ?
What a freaking joke.
With this outfit, we might as well deed the USA over to Mexico.
I’m amazed, and startled, how quickly being an American, in America, doesn’t mean much anymore!
I’ll second that emotion. Why not let Putey moderate the next debate?
Brits always seem to want to stick their snotty noises in our business with a superior attitude. Hope somebody calls him out.
Ignore Baker’s questions. Simple as that. The candidates should respond to him by talking about whatever they want. If he gets uppity about it, just say “this is an American debate, you’re on the wrong stage in the wrong building in the wrong country”.
Baker gave Trump an op-ed on China yesterday. And Baker didn’t give Tokyo Rove another op-ed to trash Trump this time right before the debate. It will be interesting to see how this goes tonight.
