Donald Trump's campaign for president drew early mockery for being nothing more than "entertainment." Almost five months later, there's little doubt that Trump has become one of the figures most responsible for shaping policy on his signature issue: immigration. Republicans from the state to federal level have worked to enact tighter immigration laws, as the issue has gained prominence on the campaign trail.
"For the the longest time we saw a lot of anti-immigrant measures happen at the federal level, or complete inaction at the federal level, and then we saw the states going in the opposite direction, and seeking policies that recognized the value of immigrants to the economy, to the community," Melissa Keaney, an attorney at the pro-immigration reform National Immigration Law Center told Business Insider.
"Now things have turned on their head. ... It's a disturbing trend."
Since launching his presidential run earlier this year, Trump has been one of the most prominent Republicans calling for the end of so-called "sanctuary cities." That name has been colloquially bestowed upon localities that do not comply with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement orders to detain immigrants living in the US illegally beyond their release date, if they're picked up for a low-level crime.
"This senseless and totally preventable act of violence committed by an illegal immigrant is yet another example of why we must secure our border immediately," Trump said earlier this year, referencing the death of a woman, 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle, killed by an immigrant living in the US without permission.
"This is an absolutely disgraceful situation, and I am the only one that can fix it," he added. "Nobody else has the guts to even talk about it. That won't happen if I become president."

YES!!! GO TRUMP ALL THE WAY TO THE OVAL OFFICE!!!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - any candidate that is not serious about stopping illegal immigration is not a serious candidate. And that includes the so-called “principled conservative” ones.
One problem is that even a supposedly conservative Texas House and Senate failed to pass a law outlawing sanctuary cities. Gov. Abbott is trying to put pressure on Dallas to cough up Criminals, but even a clever lawyer like him is likely to have limited success, because no governor of Texas can do much more than raise the issue.
Yea, this ain’t no checker game anymore, we are about to get checkmated if something isn’t done about the ilegals. Go TRUMP.
Go Trump Go
Trump invades their brains, and gets under their skin. I like it
“”This is an absolutely disgraceful situation, and I am the only one that can fix it,” he added. “Nobody else has the guts to even talk about it. That won’t happen if I become president.””
Exactly- that’s why I’m all in for Trump. I escaped Mexifornia, and have seen 2 border states ruined by illegals. I’m so glad to be back in the US now and don’t want my new home ruined.
And he’s spit on - all other candidates are pro-amnesty except Jindal and Cruz (but Cruz is strangely silent on the issue of the illegals here. Probably his donors expect something.)
407 to 160 something...todays elect count
Trump is the one that has my vote!!! (Him and Cruz)
LOL
We just got ours through and signed in North Carolina a week ago.
Cruz did say: “Deport every undocumented immigrant, including children who grew up in the U.S.” in an interview with NPR. See this post:

Really? I’m reading it soon, that would be great. I read an interview where he outright said he wouldn’t discuss it until after the wall is built. But to know who to vote for - I need to know NOW
SPOT on....I hope he’s not spitting On other candidates, LOL!
HUH? an estimate?
Beautiful! and very recent, changing what he previously said. Thanks for correcting me.
“How an honest article should read...”
Absolutely! That was my immediate reaction. It’s their old “tell a lie often enough” strategy...if they consistently omit “illegal” it furthers their attempt at slandering Trump.
