New York Prepares for Up to 6 Feet of Sea Level Rise (Gorebal Warming Barf!)

LaGuardia Airport is about to be rebuilt in New York City, but by the end of the century, fish could be swimming where airplanes once parked at the terminal. Thatâs because sea levels in the area could rise by as much as 6 feet over the next 75 years, according to new predictions released by the state of New York.
New York State environment officials announced Friday that theyâre creating new sea level rise regulations that will help coastal communities build more resilient homes and other buildings that will be better able to withstand storm surges and other flooding made worse by rising seas driven by climate change.
The new regulations will require developers in New York City, along Long Island and on the shores of the Hudson River to prepare for sea levels that could rise between 15 and 75 inches by 2100. At the far end of that scale, many of the areas hit hard by Hurricane Sandy â the Rockaway Peninsula and the shores of Staten Island, for example â could be underwater

“I get it with apostrophes and commas, but not all the time. Iâm no techie, “
It ultimately has to do with the older ASCII Unix character set and the existence of vertical versus slanted apostrophes and other symbols.

I always did wonder why a sea level rise was only going to affect NYC.
I was always taught that water seeks it’s own level, that being sea level.
With the exception of some known areas that are affected by very high tides, usually caused by geological features of that particular area, water usually stays at regular sea level.
Is NYC special?

I haven’t yet tried it, but I think it might work.
I’m saying this as I’m contributing $50 to FR and hopefully the staffer(s) there might help resolve the problem.

Yes. Manually replace all the quotation marks, apostrophe’s, and hyphens in anything you copy and paste.
Something changes when you copy and paste them. You’ll see they look different when you replace them.
It doesn’t happen all the time, some sources are fine, but enough to be a problem.
It’s a pain to do that but makes it much easier to read.

...along Long Island and on the shores of the Hudson River to prepare for sea levels that could rise between 15 and 75 inches by 2100.
So in 85 years sea levels will raise to possibly 6 ft more when empirical data says in the last hundred years or more it hasn't raised but by mere millimeters...
Solid science...!
