LaGuardia Airport is about to be rebuilt in New York City, but by the end of the century, fish could be swimming where airplanes once parked at the terminal. That’s because sea levels in the area could rise by as much as 6 feet over the next 75 years, according to new predictions released by the state of New York.
New York State environment officials announced Friday that they’re creating new sea level rise regulations that will help coastal communities build more resilient homes and other buildings that will be better able to withstand storm surges and other flooding made worse by rising seas driven by climate change.
The new regulations will require developers in New York City, along Long Island and on the shores of the Hudson River to prepare for sea levels that could rise between 15 and 75 inches by 2100. At the far end of that scale, many of the areas hit hard by Hurricane Sandy — the Rockaway Peninsula and the shores of Staten Island, for example — could be underwater

The best explanation I’ve seen so far, other than a fix at FR’s end, is to copy & paste the excerpt into notepad with ANSI encoding. Then copy & paste that back into FR. The symbols you see have to do with the encoding of the punctuation marks like the “Smart Quotes” used in MS Word.
Disclaimer: I am not a computer whiz by any stretch, but I have tried this method, and it seems to work.

I grew up on the beach in Long Island and was told 40 years ago there was a theory about the greenhouse effect. Las Tim I checked , three months ago, the high tide mark on th Long Island sound, was where it was 40 years ago

The level of stupidity needed to believe that sea level will rise six feet in a single lifetime is absurd. The numbers simply do not add up.
Meanwhile, the waves lap gently on the little beach that has held Plymouth Rock since 1621. Proving the ocean level is where it always has been.
They should relocate the whole mess, lots of high ground in Afghanistan.

Well, then all that water would have to come from the Antarctic since the north pole ice is a floating ice mass in the Arctic sea.
Since the average annual temperature of the Antarctic is approx. -47 degrees F, that would require an increase in surface temperature of 79 degrees over a prolonged period of time.
About the only thing I can think of that would create such an increase in temperature is if the earth got knocked out of orbit and sent heading towards the sun.......
In that case we're screwed and New Yorks fear of rising water will be the least of their problems.......
New York City has a better chance of being Nuked than being underwater because of Globull Warming.
Heck, they have a better chance of being attacked by Godzilla.
