New York Prepares for Up to 6 Feet of Sea Level Rise (Gorebal Warming Barf!)

LaGuardia Airport is about to be rebuilt in New York City, but by the end of the century, fish could be swimming where airplanes once parked at the terminal. Thatâs because sea levels in the area could rise by as much as 6 feet over the next 75 years, according to new predictions released by the state of New York.
New York State environment officials announced Friday that theyâre creating new sea level rise regulations that will help coastal communities build more resilient homes and other buildings that will be better able to withstand storm surges and other flooding made worse by rising seas driven by climate change.
The new regulations will require developers in New York City, along Long Island and on the shores of the Hudson River to prepare for sea levels that could rise between 15 and 75 inches by 2100. At the far end of that scale, many of the areas hit hard by Hurricane Sandy â the Rockaway Peninsula and the shores of Staten Island, for example â could be underwater

Let's see....the original name of the city was "New Amsterdam". Perhaps they should contact the good folks still living in OLD Amsterdam to find out how it is done.
I had the occasion to be in Holland (though not Amsterdam) staying in a hotel about a block from the ocean-front. The place was surrounded by HUGE levees (and I say that as a former resident of south Louisiana who lived next to the Mississippi River, so I am passably familiar with high levees).

Thank you...although with all due respect to our New York Freepers, there are some parts of New York I wouldn't mind seeing under water. Like maybe DeBlahbla’s home?

Too late! It already happened.

“If Gore is so concerned about the seal levels rising, why did he purchase a multimillion dollar ocean front home in California?”
Because the article specifically states the sea level will rise in New York. It said nothing about California.

Well, according to stenographer of state and VN war hero john f’n kohn-heinz-kerry, we have less than 500 days to fix it or we’ll all be needing water wings. And we all know how smart he is.

Will someone please calculate the additional volume of water that this would represent? Start with this: 6 ft. The surface area of the Earth times .7. I don’t know how to calculate it.
Then figure the total volume of snow, or ice, that would have to be melted to produce that volume of water. I don’t know the answer, but I know it would be more than the volume of water. An immense volume of snow or ice.
This can’t be that hard to do. Any math teachers?

Okay, I'll be honest --- I was pretty good in science in high school and college, but that was a big number of years ago and "science" may have changed since then.
But what I don't understand is how "sea level" .. which, by definition, would seem to me to be the height of the seas all over the world .. can be raised one amount in one portion of the country/world and a different amount somewhere else.
"I ain't as good as I once was..." is very true for me, but something about that just doesn't seem right to me.

I was a New Yorker. A weaker breed of narcisstic, liberal, self-absorbed haters you will never find. In small emergencies they will work together. In a big one, they will eat one anothers flesh.
Literally.
