Apparently FR has decided to engage in a full throated defense of Dr. Carson today simply because Politico wrote the story. I’ve been arguing here all day about the nomination process and how if you understand that, it is clear that Carson is lying or exaggerating. They did not call it a scholarship at Westpoint but what he was offered was basically the same and even better than a scholarship because what Westmoreland offered him was to pay ALL his expenses including spending money. What a non story this was.
Just heard him splaining this story on the Hannity radio show. To be frank, he seemed a bit dodgy. Paraphrasing...”well, I may very well have met General Westmoreland”...”I was invited to a lot of these events because I was the City Director for ROTC”...”they told me I could get into West Point, but I shut it down right there...told them I wanted to be a doctor”...”this is going on 50 years ago”...
Sean was not interrogating Carson like a Greta or a Megyn would on FNC.
Listening to the Charlie Rose video clip, he seems to have exaggerated that he actually received an offer from West Point and did meet Westmoreland. This is a short clip from a longer interview, so I’d like to see the whole thing.
My gut tells me he’s caught in an over-embellishment of an event of long ago when he was a teenager...some threads of truth, but tyne story polished up a bit. Of course, this will not stop the Left from branding him with the “L” word. I wish the MSM would be as interested in the Hildabeast’s numerous lies and also in her other personal “L” word! ;-)

West Point told ABC news there is no way to prove, or disprove, Dr Carson’s statements about West Point.
If there is no evidence from West Point, what is the source for Politicos much repeated smear of Dr Carson as a “liar”?
Politco claimed West Point told them he did not apply. That has now been documented a lie by Politco
Think the American People have a right to know who gave Politico this fraudulent information? Politico needs to provide their evidence because right now there is NOTHING to back up their accusation.

I’m not a Carson fan but...
As far as I know, there is no tuition to go to West Point. Either you are accepted and you go for free in exchange for your service or you are not accepted.
If a high ranking member of the military said he could guarantee that Carson would be admitted then that is the same as saying, “You could go to our school for free”
I attended the Naval Academy, three of my children attended/attend service academies (one Naval Academy, two Air Force Academy). I can see how a person who is unfamiliar with the academy nomination/appointment process might misconstrue an offer/endorsement from a general or other connected persons as a “scholarship”. Since Carson did not pursue/investigate an appointment to West Point, his ignorance would be understandable.
