Apparently FR has decided to engage in a full throated defense of Dr. Carson today simply because Politico wrote the story. I’ve been arguing here all day about the nomination process and how if you understand that, it is clear that Carson is lying or exaggerating. I attended the Naval Academy, three of my children attended/attend service academies (one Naval Academy, two Air Force Academy). I can see how a person who is unfamiliar with the academy nomination/appointment process might misconstrue an offer/endorsement from a general or other connected persons as a “scholarship”. Since Carson did not pursue/investigate an appointment to West Point, his ignorance would be understandable.
