In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Ted Cruz says he has a plan to begin highlighting, policy differences between him and Donald Trump. There are plenty of policy differences and there may well come a time when we start highlighting those more, Cruz tells The Brody File. In a political campaign there are seasons and phases to it as the race narrows down, as people start making choices, we may see some more policy contrasts.
Cruz has been climbing in the polls and has the money to make a serious run at the nomination. Hes been courting evangelical voters since his announcement speech at Liberty University. The truth is this: Cruz needs Trump to fade to have a realistic shot. The Brody File contends that Trumps biggest threat is not Jeb or Rubio. Its Cruz. Hes going after many of the same voters as Trump and he has the credentials, intellect, debating skills and passion to really make a dent in Trumps voter pool.
One other quote from Cruz during our interview:
I think the sharpest difference between my record and that of every other candidate is that people are tired of campaign conservatives. Theyre tired of people who talk a great game while theyre on the campaign trail but they actually havent walked the walk and I think people are looking for a consistent conservative.

What like the 500% increase of H-1B visas
“....Cruz IS the smartest guy in the room, not to mention the most Constitutionally minded. ..”
Cruz is brilliant!
Ted Cruz was a Constitutional lawyer, who gaduated magna cum laud, and clerked for Justice Rehnquist.
You should not trust any politician. They all lie before election, then after elected, go back to serving their sugar daddy rich donors. That is reason #1 I am supporting Trump. He has no sugar daddy’s. All others can not survive without them.
Your statements did not offend so there was no need for an apology. In fact I share the observations you made including those from your first post with which I also agree. Yes, Cruz is my choice as well despite misgivings. He appears to be the “smartest man in the room”. It is a shame grifters and charlatans put on as good a show as they do and the electorate are as gullible as they are. Nearly the only other statement made in this thread not leading to continued spewing of vitriol was from the owner of this board, that reason and the fact I mentioned him is why his name appears above. Simple, accurate, in my opinion, and to the point. No invective expressed to alienate the participants.
Thanks for taking the risks toward enlightened discourse.
“You should not trust any politician. They all lie before election, then after elected, ..”
I agree with this part of your post, which is why I support Senator Ted Cruz, who has PROVEN he does what he promises, and fought HARD for what he actually PROMISED to do!
After so many politicians have made promises they didn’t keep, why do some people trust Donald Trump, who has flip flopped on so many issues, and not loyal to a wife who truly loved him?
I’m sticking with the guy with a PROVEN RECORD - Ted Cruz!
If it was held today, this moment, I am pulling for Ted.
Trump is all hat and no cattle in his speeches and proof that he can lead this country back to greatness.
Ted has been fighting for me since he has been elected to the Senate and will make a great President.
Has he been 100% on everything? No, and I do not expect him to be 100% as President.
I do know he will be for the people and not someone that has cesspool written all over him and The Donald does.
What is Cruzs position on tax reform? Job creation?
IMMIGRATION????
Oh yeah, nothing
Flat tax
With the Flat tax comes job creation due to more money in companies pockets.
Secure the borders, deport. Fill jobs with Americans and fill with HIBs as needed. Monitor HIBs for overstays, deport if there are over stays.
Now crawl back under your rock, cretin
Carl’s been asked and accepted Sec Treasury. Did you read Carl’s open letter about corporate inversion? That a clue what it will be like - and that it will be nothing like the Obama team.
500% increase of H-1B visas, no thanks buddy.
That's crazy...Trump has listed his policies...That's why he is so popular...
And taxes and spending and health care.
More and more reading in this thread leads me to believe this country is screwed since the stupidity of Americans has surpassed the tipping point.
What did Cruz say that was so bad? That very soon he was going to outline the vast differences between his policies (backed up by actions) and other candidates’ rhetoric, like Trump? OH MY GOD! It’s cannibalization I tells ya! /sarc
What pisses me off the most is many of the Trumpsters are like “Cruz hasn’t done anything, Cruz can’t be trusted, Cruzers are mean-spirited and resort to name calling, etc etc etc”. Are you kidding me? All Donald Trump has is rhetoric and name-calling. He has no cores to back up anything he says he’s for but people here buy it no matter what Trump’s history contradicts. It is the biggest hypocrisy I’ve ever witnessed here.
If Lindsey Lohan Graham suddenly had an epiphany and declared the Gang of 8/14 horrible, that all illegals should be deported, and that we should never reach across the aisle again, what would happen to his poll numbers? They’d still go nowhere because people have his history to look at and would realize he’s probably full of crap.
Yet at the end of the day all there is is Trump’s rhetoric. Contradictory statements on virtually every issue because Trump is trying to cover all the spectrums, liberal and conservative.
Polls show Trump beating Hillary in Electoral College landslides. Again the Trumpsters REFUSE to answer WHY this would be. Is it because the left is voting for a conservative or is it because they think Trump is liberal like them?
About time. Cruz is nobody’s lapdog, and it’s time he stopped acting like one.
Now for a short public service announcement:
GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!
If Cruz sits around with his inner circle they must discuss the fact that Americans are red-hot angry over the issue of illegal immigration.
Yet, after all this time, Ted still cannot use the word deport at his rallies. Odd? Maybe in his heart he doesn't believe in mass deportation.
Ted speaks like an attorney...Trump speaks like my next door neighbor, or a brother in law...
Trump wants to dump NAFTA...Cruz supports NAFTA and every other US sovereignty destroying 'trade' agreement out there...And yet Ted says he is for American sovereignty...I can't imagine Cruz convincing any Trump supporters that these unfair trade agreements are good for America...
The protection policies of Perot and later Buchanan are finally resonating with a large swath of the American people...The New World Order is upon us and those that care don't like what they see...There are just so many issues...
It's good that Ted will soon bring out his policy papers...
It's interesting that many Trump supporters feel a connection to Cruz but Cruz supporters have no use for Trump...
Do you realize that Republicans are not even opposing apattybMurray for re-election? I guess that was part of the deal that she made with McConnell..
I had not seen that before. Wow!
Heidi Cruz is 100% interested in tearing up the Constitution and joining up with Mexico.
Ted needs to answer for these positions.
He does not need to focus on Trump.
He needs to focus on differences between him and Carson.
Carson is his real competition.
