Never understood why Webb was a Democrat to begin with. He took a senate seat from George Allen and served one term, thereby helping turn Virginia purple if not blue. But he’s still more Republican than Dim as his statements during the Dim debate showed.
Not sure what voters he might interest as an independent. I’d guess not very many since most of his views are likely to agree with the Republican nominee.

Hopefully, some Dems still have common sense and will see what their party has become.
Across the aisle isn't much better.
News leaked out this weekend that 40 or so GOP establishment Congresspersons are trying to make a deal with Pelosi to get Ryan voted in as the new speaker.
Would the Dems ever negotiate with the Pubbies like that? Doubtful.

Probably more of Ross Perot's views were closer to the Republicans than to the Democrats, and he managed to do Bush a lot of harm.
I don't see Webb winning many votes as an independent -- unless a Bush (or somebody Bush-like) is the nominee this time as well.

He’s going after the 0.1% moderate democrat vote.

RE Left-wing:
I don’t get it... with him, at least. Maybe he was still hoping to maintain sanity in the party, somehow. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, here.

If Bush is the nominee, I guarantee you that a lot of republicans will vote for Webb. I would. It’s time the GOP had a nominee we would be proud of.

It would be nice if this would accomplish something. None of the low information crowd whjo vote Democrat even know who he is.
Why he wants to be a Democrat is the real mystery.

He would attract Independents. I believe he did well among them when he ran for Senate.

All that’ll do is reduce his already low poll numbers.
To: Perdogg
He should be encouraged to run .... in hopes of siphoning off liberal votes in the Democrat Party (as if there is any other kind of vote LOL)

Him running as an “I” would be good news.
I understand a lot of freepers seem to like him for his military service but he’s not the first slimeball with a good military record, John Glenn.
