DALLAS The Republican race for the White House comes to North Texas Sunday afternoon when six GOP candidates will attend a four-hour forum at Planos Prestonwood Baptist Church.
The sold-out event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on WFAA.com.
Organizers said they expect 7,000 people to attend and hear from former Gov. Jeb Bush; Dr. Ben Carson; Sen. Ted Cruz; Carly Fiorina; former Gov. Mike Huckabee; and former Sen. Rick Santorum. Front-runner Donald Trump is not expected to make an appearance.
Ted Cruz has been going after evangelicals with some success. This is an evangelical crowd on his home turf, so hes got a home field advantage here, said Texas Tribune executive editor and co-founder Ross Ramsey during an appearance Sunday on WFAAs Inside Texas Politics.
Each candidate will address the audience for 10 minutes, which will be followed by a one-on-one conversation with Dr. Jack Graham, pastor of the 40,000-member church, regarding critical issues and how faith impacts their lives. Candidates will not be on the stage together, organizers said in a news release.
Pastor Graham at Prestonwood endorsed Mike Huckabee during his presidential campaign two cycles ago. Well see which way Pastor Graham goes this time, said Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy on Inside Texas Politics.
Forum organizers said they had invited other Republican or Democratic candidates to attend.

SAN ANTONIO - Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson will be in San Antonio Sunday for a book signing.
Carson will be at Books-a-Million at 5347 West Loop 1604 North at 8 p.m. to sign copies of his book.
I also heard he is fighting back and saying he HAS NOT stopped his campaigning. I think that was a rumor started.
Pastor Graham is speaking.
He’s asking Carly good questions about the War on Women and Abortion.
Carly did a good job on the interview. TED CRUZ is up!
Though he has performed well in the debates, I fear the Huckster is really a stand-in for his friend, Jebbie.
By the time Jebbie starts, the crowd will have left to get ready for their football game.
Go, Cruz, GO!!
[Go, Cruz, GO!!]
TED CRUZ speaks with authority on every subject - especially regarding the dangers of our religious liberties.
It’s going to be hard to beat that speech!
Cruz is knocking it out of the park!!
CRUZ sounds PRESIDENTIAL. 10+
My goodness, I enjoy hearing Cruz speak! He doesn’t get enough time during debates. I’m so thankful for FR and the notice that this was on. He truly is fantastic.
BUMP!
But...but....his wife works for Bear Stearns! Doesn't that disqualify him?
That was sarcasm for those who aren't aware that there are individuals here who actually cite that as a disqualifier of this superb constitutional conservative to become the GOP nominee.
Talk about the Perfectionist Caucus.
Hank
Never heard of this rule.
What he can’t do apparently is use campaign contributions to fund the book tour, that doesn’t mean he can’t campaign.
WOW!
Go Ted And Dr. Carson. Trump is leading in Texas but good luck for second place. Both good men!!
I guess Barbara still thinks Jebbie can pull out a plurality in TX since her grandson got 70+ percent in the 2014 primary and general election for land commissioner.
