In non-cabinet level jobs
Sheriff Clarke should be FBI Director
Michelle Bachman as IRS Commissioner under Secretary Carl Icahn in Treasury
Admiral James A. Ace Lyons as Undersecretary of War - Navy Branch.
LTC Allen West as Undersecretary of War Army Branch.
Lynnette Diamond Hardaway and Rochelle Silk Richardson would be great as President Trumps Co-Press Secretaries.
Marsha Blackburn, Speaker of the House
Ted Cruz as Senate Majority Leader.
You and a some others beat anything I’ve seen as a Conservative.
Some of us have spent 40 years wishing a guy would come along and listen. Trump comes along, gets it wrong and corrects himself in 24 hours, and people belch and moan about it.
What the heck is up with that?
He is obviously connected to someone who gets it exactly right. He changes his tone to reflect the more sound policy and people get upset.
Trump is to me the answer to prayer for 40 years.
Reagan got many things right. I give kudos to the guy. None the less, there’s nothing wrong with a guy going with his gut, then listening and admitting his first impression was off.
For a guy that is trashed regularly as a person who always gets this way until now, this guy listens to others and accepts their criticism.
Amazing...
If you’re running for president, you should have a small group 2 or 3 to suggest would be good candidates.
Trump didn’t have them that I know of, so this isn’t just focused on Cruz.
This is a very crucial time, and both these men should be up on this matter ready to give great answers to tough questions.
Their possible success as president, and for the nation, rests on this selection.
James Sensenbrenner.
Dont like it? Better get ready because he is one, if the thee most senior of all the conservatives in congress. And holds one of the higher conservative ratings.
His problem is the Patriot Act, which he admitted that it is not being implemented the way it was intended.
At least Trump is learning...
What we believe...
I don’t know the depth of his “belief”...
or if he would ...
transition ( ; )
Go Cruz.
Sounds like you skipped your meds again.
Ryan doesn’t even want it. Whoever gets it should at least want the job.
WOW, senator Cruz actually said “Keven McCarthy is a good man”? And the senator regrets that McCarthy dropped out? WOW! Jeepers Creepers!
But some are criticizing Trump for saying Paul Ryan is OK? Trump never said Ryan is the best choice or his first choice. He just said he is “OK”. That is exactly what I tell my wife when she asks me how did I like her Lasagna. I always say it was OK. Looks like Cruz supporters are twisting themselves into pretzels trying to make Trump less conservative.
Overall, personally I would rate Ryan more conservative than McCarthy, at least on fiscal matters. Recall that he actually touched the 3rd rail of politics...reforming social security & medicare.
Both are of course amnesty shills, but then so are ALL republican career politicians. Cruz never uses the words “deport ALL illegals”. So in my book, if you do not deport, you are allowing them to stay, which is not amnesty? Yap, they all must obey their rich donors who want H1-B visa’d expanded and illegals not deported.
“Yes, he was for him until he was sort of not for him. This is typical Trump trying to figure out how a conservative would answer as a situation comes up. That happens when you have no definite conservative principles in your life.”
I worry about Trump too, although I’m still voting for him, just because of the message it sends Rove and the other big money people - and I still can’t see him being any worse than the others, with the possible exception of Cruz - although Cruz still hasn’t got traction.
I agree that Trump is not a conservative, never has been, never will be. But his weakness here is that he tends to to believe the media spin on current events and then someone, somewhere corrects him. This flip is no different than when Trump was buying the crap about the Syrian ‘refugees’...he first went with the media and believed they were mostly women, children, and the elderly - then he got corrected. Here, the only thing he heard about Ryan was that he was a tough budget person back when Romney chose him - he wasn’t up to speed regarding his 2013 Amnesty push (and to be honest neither was I...until about 5 minutes on this site). What Trump needs to do is simply defer a question he hasn’t studied-up on until he’s briefed by whoever is briefing him...not just give us the answer that the media is brainwashing the public with.
Amen.....MARSHA BLACKBURN for SPEAKER!!
Yes, he has very good advisers. There seem to be people watching the Internet and taking the conservative pulse. This is all good.
He was a businessman until about 5 minutes ago. He’s making the transition and he’s a smart man and is learning fast.
He doesn’t want it because he still wants to be president and speaker is a thankless job that complicates the process of getting to the presidency.
A true conservative might not be able to win, so we are stuck with a middle-of-the-roader I think. But not Ryan. Someone without all his baggage who will not be an Obama toady.
There you go again.
Trump vs Ryan: which is the correct story? Or, why should Trump have an say on who should be Speaker?
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin iterest ping list.
I guess any American can have a say about the speaker, and I can’t say that I’m even considering Ryan for the job.
I’d love for it to be a Gohmert or a Gowdy. A real conservative.
Cry Baby clone RINO. Not just NO, but H. NO!
Then who is? Trump naming his first choice could go a long way to silencing those who question his conservative beliefs.
The only thing that saves us from the bureaucracy is inefficiency. An efficient bureaucracy is the greatest threat to liberty.
Eugene McCarthy (1916 - 2005)
Just another politician too shy to say publicly what he really thinks. If he cannot or will not express an opinion on the Speaker of the House, which is not a private club, but the business of the entire nation it seems incongruent to express an opinion as to the suitability or likelihood of Donald Trump to be the nominee. Let Cruz be Cruz and leave that to the voters, just like he does the Speaker.
That’s how I see it.
