Drudge: “I had a Supreme Court Justice say to me it’s over for me."

Circulating on the web tonight:

During an appearance on the Alex Jones Show, Drudge asserted that copyright laws which prevent websites from even linking to news stories were being advanced.

“I had a Supreme Court Justice tell me it’s over for me,” said Drudge. “They’ve got the votes now to enforce copyright law, you’re out of there. They’re going to make it so you can’t even use headlines.”

“To have a Supreme Court Justice say to me it’s over, they’ve got the votes, which means time is limited,” he added, noting that a day was coming when simply operating an independent website could be outlawed.

“That will end (it) for me – fine – I’ve had a hell of a run,” said Drudge, adding that web users were being pushed into the cyber “ghettos” of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

“This is ghetto, this is corporate, they’re taking your energy and you’re getting nothing in return – nothing!”

I find it ironic that Drudge skims and re-uses content provided by people who in at least some cases actually go out, do research, write stories, then he complains that "...they’re taking your energy and you’re getting nothing in return – nothing!”

I mean, does nobody else see the contradiction here?

The introduction of ultra restrictive “copy right” laws will spawn a for-profit surveillance state, driven by trial lawyers and social media monopolists.

Exactly, and for those here who think that enforcement of these requirements will be equitable just have to look at the recent IRS' selective 501(c)(3) for issuances to conservative groups as an example.

This is huge. So which liberal justice in such arrogance would approach Drudge and under what circumstances would such an interaction take place?

I could see Scalia approach him as a warning letting him know it is coming...(Scalia would be a vote against, of course).

Only Pravda will report news.

That would make the resident Putinistas very happy (Trumpinator, mac_truck, McGruff, tcrlaf, Navy Patriot, marvel5, etc...).

how did any decent representative vote for this?

No one reads this stuff, they just vote how they are told.

People think 'it can't happen here' but it can...

Already is, just ask a couple of cake bakers in Oregon how a state government agency, not even a court can hate crime them out of business.

Yet, this is very suspect.

Nope it is very much true people have been aware of net neutrality for some time, sadly every senator save one voted to let this happen, knowingly or not.

Drudge drives massive amounts of traffic to those sites. They should be thanking him!

When I was a child in the late 40’s and 50’s, and into the 60’s, the Big Three networks controlled all the information

Before TV we got our news at the movie theater via MovieTone News and from radio. Jimmy Fidler, Alex Dryer and of Course Paul Harvey. My old head can't remember some of the other big names.

It’s not going to happen.

2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
